11- Suitable Suitor

Early Fall

"Come on, Panny, tell me something- anything!" Yamcha huffed as he walked behind her with his hands on his hips.

Pan's lips tugged into a smile as she shook her head. "No way."

"Not even one little bit of information?"

"Nope."

Yamcha let out a frustrated groan, and Pan grinned. All morning he had been questioning her about who she had danced with at her birthday ball, but she wouldn't tell him. She wouldn't tell anyone! Trunks had danced with her for almost the entire night; she had gone to bed dreaming of the dance and woke up still feeling as if she were on clouds.

Pan neared Dr. Brief's office and opened the door with a smile. Her smile froze, and she came to a quick stop when she saw who else was in the office. Trunks! He was sitting on a stool beside Dr. Brief's desk, and his eyes widened when he met hers.

"Oof!" Yamcha grunted as he ran into Pan. "What's- you!" He gasped as he pointed to Trunks.

Trunks' eyes widened even more. A million thoughts were running through Pan's mind. What was he doing in Dr. Brief's office? Had he been caught?! Her stomach dropped- she had to get him somewhere safe and fast!

"Oh, I see you met my grandson, Trunks," Dr. Brief said as he walked in from the back room.

Pan's jaw went slack as Yamcha spoke- "g-grandson?"

"Yes," Dr. Brief's chuckled. "Panny here has already met him."

Pan met Trunks' eyes, but he looked just as lost as she was. "Yeah," she nodded as she forced a smile.

"He's the one you danced with last night?" Yamcha looked at Pan.

"Mhm," she nodded slowly.

Yamcha glanced between Pan and Trunks a few times. "You know, I used to date your mother," he told Trunks.

Trunks frowned as Pan side-eyed her uncle. She never knew he used to date Dr. Brief's daughter. Then again, the doctor had never talked much about his daughter. She had moved away many years ago and started a family of her own.

"So, I guess she's doing okay?" Yamcha asked.

"Uh- yeah," Trunks nodded slowly. "She's doing good."

"Well, good," Yamcha nodded slowly.

Pan wanted to cringe at the awkwardness. Even if Yamcha had dated Dr. Brief's daughter, there was no way she could have been Trunks' mother since he was a Saiyan. Although Pan had to admit that Trunks could pass as Dr. Brief's grandson since they had the same color hair.

"I'm going to go," Yamcha said as he looked at Pan. "Have a good checkup," he said before he left.

Pan waited until Yamcha was gone before she turned to Trunks with wide eyes. "So, I have a grandpa now," he said.

Pan turned to Dr. Brief, who simply smiled. "And I have a grandson."

"What?" Was all Pan could muster.

"It's a nice coverup, isn't it?" Dr. Brief's asked with a smile. "It'll keep him from having to hide when he comes to visit you."

Pan's eyes widened, "wait, you know-"

"Yes."

"He saw my necklace," Trunks muttered.

"Don't have such a worried look on your face, Princess," Dr. Brief's said gently. "I might be old, but I can keep a secret."
