CHAPTER 5

"Hey Sweetheart." My mom greets as I get into the car.

"You talked to Miss Jermaine?" I ask instead of greeting her back.

"Mmhm." She responds pulling out of the school parking lot.

"Uh!" I throw my hands up and widen my eyes. "Hello!"

"I talked to her before you even started here Jordyn, so calm down."

"Mom that's embarrassing!" I whine.

"You're talented Jordyn. I just wanted her to know where you're coming from...about your father and Camer-"

"I don't want to talk about it." I mumble.

Just the thought of those two made my heart break.

I blinked away the tears that started to form.

"I know who you can do your documentary on." She says changing the subject.

"You know about that too?"

She sends me a side glance.

"I know about everything Jor."

I roll my eyes.

"How does she expect me to find someone to do this stupid project on? I begged her to d-"

"Ashton." She cuts me off from my rambling.

"Excuse me?"

"Ashton Irwin."

"Mom, I don't even know the guy!"

"And this will give you the perfect opportunity." She smiles to herself. "You both have a connection Jordyn."

"For Pete's sake Mom! I'm not doing the dumb project on him! And don't say we have a connection, because we don't."

"You will do the project on him or you are not allowed back into the studio." She says sternly.

Whoaaaa.

What the hell Mom?

"Okay take five boys." My mom says into the mic. "Go." She nudges me.

I groan and reluctantly stand up.

I push open the glass door and enter the booth.

"Hey Irwin!"

The light brown haired drummer looks up at me.

"Come with me."

He sends me a questioning look.

"Dude I don't have all day!"

With that he gets up from his drum set and follows me to the hallway.

"Irwin?" He questions. "You know you can call me Ashton...Right?"

"First name's are too formal for me." I say.

"Noted." He says quietly. "So what'd you want Ellis?"

"Okay so, I have to do a documentary of someone I love but am not related to for filmmaking and I'm doing it on you."

"Okay."

"Okay what?" I ask raising an eyebrow at him.

"Okay I'll do it."

I sigh a breath of relief.

"On one condition."

I groan.

"What is it?"

"Tell me you love me." He giggles.

Yes.

The guy just...giggled.

"Ew no."

"Fine then I'm not doing it." He crosses his arms over his chest.

What a child.

I huff out a breath.

"I love you." I mumble.

"What'd you say?" He cups his hand around his ear.

"I love you."

"Hmm?" He gets closer to me.

"I FLIPPING LOVE YOU OKAY!" I yell into his ear.

He mumbles a string of incoherent swear words at me.

"Beautiful." He says rubbing his ear.

"I'll meet you at the coffee shop around the corner at two tomorrow." I say as I turn around.

"Got it."

"Oh," I turn back around to face him, "don't be late this time."

"Eye-eye Captain!" He salutes.

This is going to be a very long semester.
