I rose my hand to knock on the door of her room, I still didn't know her name and I didn't know what to call her.

I knocked on the door and heard no response, so I let myself in. I saw her on her bed, face half in the pillow and half not. Over her shoulder a messy braid with pieces falling out from sleeping in it.

She looked so peaceful, just laying there sleeping. I touched her shoulder, ready to softly shake her to wake up.

Once my hand made contact with her arm through her hoodie her eyes opened and she rolled away from me and off of the bed.

The thud she made when she hit the carpet worried me and I rushed to the other side of the bed, "Are you okay?" I asked holding out my hand.

She ignored it as she stood up and took a few steps away from me. Her focus left me as she re-did the hair tie on the sweatpants she was wearing, my sweatpants.

I loved seeing her in my clothes, she was too cute.

I cleared my throat, getting back to the reason I came in here to begin with, breakfast.

"Breakfast is almost done, would you like to come and eat?" I asked her as nicely as I could.

"I'll pass," she told me flatly.

"You need to eat something," I said, crossing my arms over my chest.

"And you need to let me leave but I don't think either of those things is going to happen," she told me, leaning against the wall.

She was right about that, but I wasn't going to let her starve in here. I moved towards her and she jumped on the bed and to the other side of it.

"Don't touch me!" she said, anger coating through her voice.

"Help me!" a little kid shouted from the hallway, she sounded like she was trying not to laugh so I just brushed it off.

My mate moved to the door and quickly opened it to see Shelby, a little girl, about five, running down the hallway away from her older brother, Dylan.

"Watch out, here comes the tickle monster!" Dylan shouted in his deepest voice possible and Shelby giggled.

She ran behind my mates legs and hugged them, peering at Dylan from behind them.

My mate laughed at them and looked at Shelby, "And who are you?"

"My names Shelby!" she shouted and pointed at Dylan, "And that mean monster is Dylan!"

"Dylan are you aware that being a monster is strictly against the laws of the United States?" My mate said, extremely serious.

"So what?" Dylan told her, "I'm a law breaker!"

"I'm a law enforcer so either you stop being a monster or Shelby and I will have to teach you," she paused to crack her knuckles, "The hard way."

Dylan paused for a moment before turning and running down the hall towards the stairs, "You'll never get me alive!"

My mate crouched down in front of Shelby, "Piggyback ride?" she offered.

"Yeah!" Shelby jumped on her back, "Let's go get him!"

They rushed down the stairs after Dylan, leaving me in the room alone. So she's fine with anyone but me?

I rushed down the stairs with Shelby on my back, following the sound of Dylan's footsteps.

We got to the ground floor and chased him through the living room, which had a few people in it, and into a different room.

Once we passed through the doorway I saw it was the dining room, we raced around the table after Dylan and went through to the next room.

We entered the kitchen, which was really big, that had a lot of people cooking and bringing food into the dining room.

I almost bumped into a girl carrying a large bowl full of scrambled eggs, but I dodged her and shouted a sorry over my shoulder and I chased Dylan through multiple more rooms until we cornered him in what looked to be a game room.

He turned around and smiled at me, laughing, "Looks like you got me, and alive too."

I laughed and set Shelby down, who ran and tackled Dylan, who I assumed to be her brother, in a hug.

He caught her easily and and looked at me, "Nice job catching me, I'm Dylan, and you are?"

"I'm C," I told him, holding out my hand, "And it was my pleasure. I love playing with children."

"Did you just call Shelby and me children?" he asked sounded offended.

"Duh, you're obviously a kid at heart, just like me!" I told him, adjusting my glasses, which I had grabbed when I ran to the door to see who was yelling.

"Anyway, I better get back to the room!" I turned around and went into the hallway, only to realize I was lost, "Hey, how do I get back up to the room I was in before?"

"You're not going to eat breakfast?" Dylan asked me, setting Shelby down and walking towards me.

Shelby beat him to me though and I crouched down next to her, "You have to eat breakfast! I want you to sit next to me!"

She have me puppy dog eyes and I gave in, they only worked on me when they were done by children.

"Fine, I'll eat breakfast, but just for you!" I told her, tapping her nose when I said the word 'you.'
