I woke up to the sound of birds chirping and the sunlight streaming into my room through my pale purple curtains that didn't do much to stop the bright light.

I grabbed my phone off the nightstand and squinted to look at it. I had thirteen text messages. Two texts from an unknown number and the rest from Vinchenzo.

Unknown: hey Arianna, it's Luciano DuVitto. I got your number from the FBI record book.

Unknown: I was wondering whether you would like to meet up at Cafè Flora at midday? I'd like to discuss something.

I was confused as to how he got my new number when I realised that yesterday when I signed in, they took my new number.

Me: Hey sure! I don't mind at all.

The reply was very fast. I opened the "thank you" he had sent and then got up to get dressed for the day and to see my dad and his girlfriend.

I wore black pants with a red cropped hoodie and paired those with black combat boots. I walked out of my room and into the living room to see my dad and Claire watching tv with a teapot in the middle of our glass coffee table.

"Good Morning dad, good morning Claire." I greeted them both as I took a seat.

"Good Morning," Claire smiled shyly.

"Morning Munchkin, how'd you sleep?" He asked his eyes twinkling.

"Really well. I have to step out in a couple of hours to meet a friend of mine." I said and they both nodded and went back to watching tv.

"Okay dear. Eat breakfast, it is the most important meal of the day." He grinned.

"Of course." I said and headed to the kitchen and pulled open the fridge door.

I grabbed some bread and cheese. It was rather a basic breakfast of a toasted cheese sandwich but I enjoyed it nonetheless. However, my mind couldn't help but wonder where and what Vinchenzo was upto. I missed him. A lot.

I knew he treated me like trash in the beginning but that was in the beginning. Before he got to know me, before he was able to know my backstory. He was ruthless, yes, but when we were together he treated me like a princess - no a queen - and I always felt happy and at ease. As strange as that sounds he didn't make me feel scared or odd in his presence, in fact I enjoyed spending time with him.

Grabbing the keys to my white Lexus, I headed out to the garage to drive it. I had bought Cora four months before I had departed on my mission to go undercover in one of the biggest mafia families to ever exist in this country. I had left Cora in my father's garage as I knew he would look after her for me and he had.

Cora wasn't dusty neither from the outside nor the inside. The white paint was still glossy and the seats still smelled amazing. I never allowed any food or drinks in my baby.

I pushed the keys into the ignition and heard the familiar purr before I headed out to meet Detective Lucian DuVitto. To say I was nervous was a large understatement. I was afraid that he knew of my relationship with the mafia boss, I wouldn't even know what to do in such a situation. I could only cross my fingers and hope that he knew nothing and this was simply a friendly meet up because he had no friends or something stupid like that.

I parked my car and surveyed the area. I noticed him right away. Luciana was sitting on the porch of the cafè and he was sipping a coffee as he held a magazine in his left hand. Sighing, I stepped out and locked my car before I went ahead to face the music.

"Miss Dawson." He greeted me with a smile on his face, "Please have a seat. Order anything you would like." He said as he pushed the menu towards me.

"You can call me Arianna. I'm sorry if I was late." I responded.

"Not at all. I was a little early. I would rather be early than late." He explained as he sat up.

"Why is it that you wanted to meet up?" I asked neglecting to look at the menu.

"Director Lee gave me your number. Since you are working on the Vitali case and I am too, Lee wanted us to work together. He said something about us making a brilliant team."

"I suppose that is true. I haven't found too much information on them. Just things that everyone knows." I sighed.

He leaned back in his seat, "I believe you were undercover for them. I can't believe you got out alive."

"Twist of fate and some luck." I laughed uneasily.

"How did you do it?" He was interested now. He leaned forward and place his hands on the table, his eyes studying my face intently.

"How did you get out? Detailed version too." He grinned his eyes sparkling, "You don't understand how curious I am."

"No, trust me I do. I am so thankful that I managed to get out, goodness knows what they would have done to me had I stayed any longer. To get out I hid in the boot overnight in one car that was supposed to carry cargo to the dock. The  when they stopped and I felt as though the distance was long enough from the compound I unlatched the boot from the inside and ran for it."

"They didn't notice you?" He asked awed.

"The one man thought the boot was faulty." I laughed.

"Well they're stupid then. We give them so much credit and think so highly of them while they all are dumb." Luciano laughed as he tapped the table.

"You are correct. They aren't as threatening as they seem. Just a whole bunch of lost people doing some dirty work." I said.

"I agree with you. We need to take them down, Arianna. Show the world that they can easily be eradicated and that way our children can grow up in a safe environment."

"You have big dreams Mr DuVitto." I said grinning.

"Luciano please. Yes, I do have big dreams. My mother always said that I should dream big and aspire to reach those dreams. She said talking is for cowards while doing is for real men."

"Your mother seems like a lovely lady. Gives good advice too." I said steering the converstaion away from the mafia.

I was so afraid that I would slip up and reveal that I knew so much more than I was letting on. Afraid I would tell him of the relationships and bonds I had grown and maintained in the compound.

"She was. She's in heaven now, at peace. I'm taking these mafia men down for a reason." He said with a determined look on his face.

"If you don't mind me asking, what happened?"

"It's a long story. To summarise, he was killed by a mafia, the Stalias ones to be precise. All five men that went to hunt down the money she had loaned in order to pay for siblings and I's tuition found her alone and all had her way with her before they left her for the dead. She died after losing a lot of blood from her skull." He said as he lost the sparkle in his eyes, his face now held a more sullen look.

"I'm so sorry. We will take down Iñigo Stalias and his mafia. He is the worst crime lord to ever exist." I added as I recalled the day when I had first seen Vinchenzo on a field and when Iñigo had sent troops oyr way down at the Cerulean Scheme.

"Yes we will," He said sharing the same determination I had, "We will end Iñigo and I want to be the one pulling the trigger to his skull." He added darkly while I shivered.
