Cooking was therapeutic for you, it was far from a bother to cook you and your girlfriend dinner every night, it was something that you enjoyed, even if Rosa wasn't home for dinner every time you cooked it. Tonight, was a rare occasion that she got home before it was dished up, having head upstairs to get showered and changed whilst you finished up cooking. You didn't see the need to notify her that the food was done so put it onto two plates and placed them upon the table.

Going back to grab the two drinks you had poured out, you decided to shout out Rosa's name and say that dinner was served, assuming she was still upstairs. She wasn't. As you turned around you had screamed in Rosa's face, catching both of you by surprise. Luckily you were able to keep hold of the two glasses and not send your drinks flying everywhere.

Rosa still looked rather shocked as she wiggled a finger into her ear as though she was trying to clear it out. "You didn't have to yell."

You offered her a sheepish smile, feeling rather bad for shouting at her even though you didn't mean to and you were pretty sure that she knew that.

"I didn't realise that you were downstairs," you said quieter than you would normally. "I wouldn't have shouted if I had known that you were just behind me."

She cupped the back of her ear in an attempt to make things sound louder. "Pardon? I can't hear you."

You pouted at her, feeling rather bad if you had hurt her ears but also not appreciating if it was a joke, she was playing on you.

"I think you've deafened me," she said, trying not to laugh.

"I'm sorry Rosa," you frowned. "I really didn't mean to yell. I didn't hear you come downstairs, so I thought you were in the shower or getting changed."

Rosa leaned down to press her lips to your forehead.

"I'm sorry," she said softly. "I didn't mean to make fun. It's fine, just don't make a habit of screaming in my face because I might have a heart attack."

"I'll try not to do it again," you offered.

"How about we settle down now and have dinner?" She asked. "It smells great."

"I think that will be for the best."

She offered you a gentle smile before the two of you sat down at the table ready for the meal you created.
