Chapter 21:

Narrative POV:

Hayley took one last look in the mirror before finally emerging from the bathroom.

“How do I look?” She asked. Making Taylor break away from his phone and awed.

“Hayley,” He stood. “You look absolutely amazing.” He gawked.

She looked down at her feet and blushed.

“Thanks babe.”

He shook his head. “You know amazing doesn’t really do you justice.” He smiled. “I don’t think there is any word in the English language that does your beauty justice.”

She giggled.

“Well, I don’t need that.”

“I strongly disagree.”

She smiled at his silliness. “Well, then think of one.”

He nodded. “I sure will. Even if it takes all night.”

She gave a breathy chuckle. “I’ll be holding you up to that.”

He nodded.

“I accept this challenge.”

Hayley took his hand in hers.

“Do you realize what time it is?” She asked pulling him down the stairs.

He looked at his phone and sighed. “Crap.”

Now they were sure they were running late to Taylor’s parent’s house.

“The in-laws are not going to like this.” He held the car door open for her.

“I know. How will I ever win them over?” Her eyes went wide like tennis balls.

“We’ll figure something out.” He said with a sly smile as he placed a hand behind her head rest. Reversing the car, closing the garage after them, and finally taking off towards the high way.

Not that his parents lived far.

But they could afford to avoid as many delays as possible.

And streets meant street lights.

One thing they would most definitely love to avert.
