22: Echos Fading

Chapter 22:

Hayley's POV:

He was hesitant to leave.

I could tell he wasn't comfortable being away from me for too long.

And he wasn't going to show it either.

I wanted him to go out and have fun.

Have time with his boys and I get to stay home with my mom.

Visit my dad and hang out with my sisters.

Go on random girl dates.

Perhaps hit up LA and hang for a few.

I was still coming up with ways to pass my time.

He turns away from his luggage and smiles. "You know I'll stay if you said so. Just say the word and I won't go."

I shake my head. "No, Taylor." I sigh. "You need to do this."

He bites his lip. "I don't want you to feel like I am abandoning you." He pulls me closer to his body.

"I don't feel that way." I smile softly at him. "Now hurry. We have to get you to the airport in less than thirty."

He grins at me. "Thank you for letting me take a mini vacation."

I nudge him softly and continue to help him pack up last minute things.

An hour later and we were waiting for his flight to be announced.

We knew it was going to be soon.

But I was still too busy gripping onto his hand.

For a person that travels a lot, flying still makes me nervous.

He senses how worried I am and places a gentle kiss on the back of my hand.

I smile at him softly.

He snuggles me closer to his body.

"Everything will be fine. I'll be back before you know it." He whispers into my ear softly.

I nod.

"I know hubby."

Flight 546 to London will now begin boarding

I sigh deeply and raise my body from the chair in the VIP waiting section.

He throws his backpack over his shoulders and makes sure the straps are secure.

I hand him his boarding pass and give him a sad smile.

Unintentional tears begin to roll down my cheeks.

"No babe." He pulls me into a tight hug. "Don't cry." He says as he rubs my head.

I dig my head into his chest and sniff.

"I'm just really going to miss you."

I muffle into his chest.

"I'm going to miss you too." He pulls away. "But I have to board now Hayles."

He uses his thumbs to wipe away my tears.

I could see tears forming in his.

But he swallowed them back.

"I'll be back before you know it."

"Be sure to say hi to Zac for me."

He nods and pulls away from me fully.
