Juliet's pov:

Christmas is supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year, right, well that's probably true if you're not a Black. Ever since I was a child my parents never gave much care to the holiday since they claimed "It's just another day." And I believed them of course, I mean why wouldn't I, they are my parents after all, and everything they say must be true, right. And sure it is just a day for most if not all wizarding families, but to muggles, and half-bloods Christmas is a day filled with joy and celebration.

This was the first year I would be spending Christmas at Hogwarts, and to say I was excited would be an understatement. I was so exited I had to be forced to bed on Christmas eve.

"If you go to bed now, the sooner you'll be able to open your gifts." Lily pleaded as it was already 3 in the morning by now, I was staying at the Gryffindor common room, since Evelyn and Dorcas had to go home, and I didn't really fancy the idea of me having to be alone in my dorm, especially since our other roommate decided to stay this year aswell.

"But what if something happens and I miss it because you forced me to sleep." I asked sitting upright on the mattress that was set up for me in between Lily and Marlene's beds.

"Nothing's going to happen, now either you go to sleep willingly or I will have to use force." Marlene threatened, half asleep might I add, it was quite funny as she looked pretty lost.

"Fine, but if something happens I'm blaming you." I said, laying down and the second my head touched the pillow I was asleep.

"This one is for you, Jules, it's from your sister." Marlene said handing me a small wrapped box, I inspected it for a while, before removing the wrapping paper. I looked around to try and see if I could find a letter but the only thing I found was my initials carved into the back of the necklace.

"Which sister? She has three." Sirius stated taking a sip of his hot chocolate, where he got it beats me.

"I don't know Black, it just had Juliet's name on the package and a return name that said 'your favourite sister' so you tell me." Marlene said and I instantly knew who it was from.

"It's from Trixie, she always took pride in me calling her my favourite when I was younger." I laughed. "Never did I think she'll take part in sending Christmas presents."

"Why wouldn't she, she adores you." Sirius scoffed.

"Are those real Amethyst stones." Lily asked inspecting the necklace closely and admiring the fine craftsmanship on it, I shrugged I didn't know how to tell the difference between real and fake jewellery.

"Probably, here you can have it." I said giving it to her but she just shook her head.

"I couldn't possibly, it's yours, it even has your initials on it." She said giving it back.

"Amethyst isn't really my colour, besides there is a simple spell to change initials." I said taking my wand out of my hair and pointing it at the necklace, changing the initials from J.C.B to L.M.E "There all better." I said giving it to her.

"Thanks Juliet." She smiled and I nodded.

Just then the portrait hole opened up, revealing Daniel, I groaned in annoyance, if I had known he was going to be here I would have never stayed, then again someone probably did warn me.

Two weeks ago

"Daniel is staying for Christmas, you okay with that?" Lizzie asked as she packed her trunk.

"Mhmm" I nodded absent-mindedly

One week ago.

"You sure you don't wanna go home." Lizzie asked.

"Why would I want to that." I asked.

"I don't know probably since you'll have to deal with Daniel."

"We'll barely see each other, it's a big school." I shrugged off.

Present time.

Clearly I forgot he was a Gryffindor, there's a reason I'm not a Ravenclaw, don't have the brains for it. I sighed and sat back in the sofa without a word, maybe he won't see me and we'll just have a normal day.

"Hey Juliet, I didn't know you were staying for Christmas." Daniel said joining us and I put on a fake smile.

"If I had known you'd be here I would've told you." I said and he smiled back at me, his perfect smile, the smile that got me hooked in the first place, I swear somewhere this boy must have Veela blood cause his personality does not do him any justice, yet every girl and some of the lads swoon over him like he's the next Newt Scamander or Grindewald, okay maybe not Grindewald considering he was an evil manipulative mastermind who wanted to out the whole wizarding world all because his crush rejected him. Looking at it now, Daniel does seem a lot like Grindewald in the prospect of being a manipulative sack of potatoes who can't take no for an answer, but then again it might just be me.

"We were just about to head down to breakfast you should join us." Sirius suggested, Daniel shrugged, he looked down at me for a split second before agreeing.

"Sure why not I don't have anything better to do." Sure you don't.

Breakfast wasn't enjoyable, Daniel kept trying to talk to me and James was avoiding me, the entire day went like that, it got so bad I had to go back to my own dorm to catch a breath. I spent the rest of Christmas break in between my dorm and the owlery writing letters to my sister Andromeda, she was the one who could help me through sickness and reassure me that I wasn't dying. It was around ten on new year's eve when there was a knock at my door, I got up and was met with Sirius looking disappointed and slightly drunk. I had forgotten about the party completely, well mainly because I was sleeping half the day and the other half I spent eating chocolate frogs and reading poetry in my bed.

"Well?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I forgot what day it was." I smiled sheepishly, he just laughed and led me towards the party.
