The next day, I have no lessons because my parents agree that the storm had been stressful and I could take a day for mental health. Rather than meditating or riding a horse, I pour myself into a different book about teleportation. The following day I have a lesson with just Urisis and she teaches me to guard myself with magic on the field. The Purist takes an urn filled with water and splashes it at me over and over again and each time I fail to block it.

"Uoon der dall, favcalis," She says.

"Uoon der dall, favcalis," I repeat, grousing.

"It's caleese, not calus."

"Uoon der dall, favcaleese."

"It's delll, not doll," she comments, and then I begin to cry.

After I feel the tears have subsided, I look at her. She's stiff, but reaches for my hand. "You will master this spell, Mikah. Maybe your wand senses you're upset?"

"Can you tell me something cool?"

"What?"

"Anything you think is cool before I need to tell you something miserable."

"Hmm." Urisis rubs her palms together. "There's my friend, also in the Armada named Julissa, and she can block fire. And she can block bullets, not just bullets aimed at her, but any bullets in her cross hairs. In the fold we call her Star Riser after her great great great great grandmother who had that same magic."

"Wow, Julissa, I think I remember her." Before I can finish my thought, Urisis claps.

"Get up, Princess. Hate to tell you this, but you need to toughen up. I am compensated for a lesson, not an entertainment spree." She tilts her head to the side and cradles in with her hand in a stretch. Balking at her words, I stand up and rub the dirt and grass off my flexi pants.

"Is it allowable if I bring up a little bit of my problem? For a minute."

She ignores me and poises her wand. "Vanishing spell."

This time, my teeth clench. Witch. "Do you want compensation for the high five too?" Even more immature than Winter, she does not respond and instead dictates the spell. I have to dictate it back with perfect pronunciation five times. She's lucky I don't burn her alive.
