The morning was the usual one for Sameer, like it had been for last one week of his marriage. Naina's side of bed was always empty when he woke up, and neatly made. He wondered why she was up early, even on a weekend. And why she was so particular about doing everything when Mohan could do it. After all, taking care of things at home was Mohan's job.

Stretching himself, he yawned, and decided to not bother himself with all these thoughts. Afterall, Naina hardly ever did what was sensible.

Yes, like getting married to you.

He sat up with a jerk, frowning at his mind voice admonishing him, 'Bas yehi ek kaam dhang ka kiya hai uss madam ne. Mujhse shaadi karna uski life ka best decision saabit hoga.'

Haahaahaa... haahaahaa...

Angrily flipping the quilt away, Sameer got up and went to the washroom, cursing his mind to laugh at him. How could his own mind make fun of him... it was supposed to be on his side.

When he went down for breakfast, Naina was sitting with Dadaji, keenly listening to him talk about the time when he was younger.

'Arey beta uss samay ki baat hi alag thi. Hamara poora parivaar ek saath rehta tha. Saat toh hum bhai hi the, mere chacha aur do tauji ke bachhon ko milakar. Par behne sirf do thi. Hamari koi buaa nahi thi isliye mere dada dadi aur ghar ke baaki log, sabhi bohot pyar karte the unse. Lekin unki jaldi shaadi ho gayi aur woh apne sasural chali gayi. Ek din main chupp ke ghar ki chatt pe jaakar ro raha tha, tabhi wahan meri dadi aa gayi. Jab unhe pata chala ki main apni behno ki yaad mein ro raha hun toh unhone kaha

Jo pyar tere dil mein unke liye hai wohi pyar aur izzat har uss beti ke liye rakhna jinka sasural hamara ghar hoga.

Naina kept looking at him, amazed at the thoughts of his grandmother.

Placing a hand on her head, Dadaji lovingly smiled, 'Isliye beta, tumhe kabhi bhi lagey ki iss ghar ka koi bhi member tumhari feelings ko chot pohoncha raha hai toh bejijhak mujhse kehna. Jitna pyar tumhe apne parivar se mila hoga utna hi pyar yahan bhi milna chahiye. Jaise tum apne mata pita ki ladli rahi hogi waise hi yahan bhi hamari pyari beti ho. Tumhare parents aur bhai bhabhi ki jagah toh hum log nahi le sakte par hum sab chahte hain ki tumhe unki kami na mehsoos ho.'

Like a bolt, his words hit Naina, making her wince. She quickly lowered her head, hiding the pain in her eyes from him. However, sitting at the dining table, Sameer noticed the faint shudder.

'Pakka mera naam aaya hoga iske dimaag mein. Kahin Dadaji se kuch keh na de. Bana banaya khel bigad jayega.' His mind created a scenario where he was crouching on the floor, surrounded by his family, who were glaring at him with furious eyes, everyone's finger pointed at him while Naina stood at a little distance, laughing at his distress.

Sameer, tune itna bada jhooth bola?

Sameer, tujhse aisi harkat expect nahi ki thi!

Sameer, tu hamara beta nahi ho sakta!

Nikal jaa iss ghar se!

Humein kabhi apni shakl mat dikhana!

'Nahiii!' He screamed, covering his ears with his hands, his eyes squeezed shut.

Dadaji and Naina turned swiftly to look at him. Anaya stopped speaking on the phone and stared in his direction. Ambika came rushing from her room.

'Sameer, kya hua beta? Tu chillaya kyon? Sab theek hai na?' Her gaze searched for any possible injury.
