The morning of Meridee's second birthday party was an extremely hectic one. Meri's actual birthday was next Monday and Des wanted that day to just be for her Nick and Meri, so the parents had to go all out for the family and friends event. And boy was Des going all out.

Late last night Nick's mom and entire family flew in from Jersey so that Des and Deb could start cooking all the food early meaning the girl got minimal sleep.

She then had to wake up early to pick up Percy and Haley from the airport. Upon arrival Desiree gave Percy the biggest hug when they saw each other.

"Percy!" Desiree exclaimed.

"Hey Dezy. How's Cali treating you?"

"Better than I could've ever imagined." Des smiled from ear to ear. "How was the flight in?"

"It was long, but good. Well it got good as soon as Haley took her Xanax and was out like a light the whole time."

"Ah. I'm sure that was refreshing to not hear her nag you for 6 hours." Des snickered. "Where is she anyway?"

"She stopped for coffee. I went ahead and brought our bags out. She should be here soon." Des nodded and popped her trunk so Percy could put up the luggage.

"Desiree!" Des heard the shrill voice of her once roommate coming out of the airport carrying two cups of coffee.

"Hi Haley." Desiree said with forced enthusiasm. Not only because she was tired, but also because Haley definitely wasn't Des' favorite person in the world. The two shared a quick hug and some 'how do you do's?'. Before getting into the car Haley handed Percy a cup of coffee. Des couldn't help but feel some type of way that Haley didn't get her anything considering it was 7:30 in the morning and she had the same coffee order as Des. And quite frankly it was too early and she was too tired for Des to have a filter.

"I would've also enjoyed a coffee this morning, but it's fine. Y'all can just give me gas money instead."

Percy knew that Haley would say something slick to piss Desiree off and he really didn't feel like hearing an argument this morning.

"Don't worry Dezy, you can have mine. I'm tryna cut back on caffeine anyway." Percy handed the driver his beverage and she thanked him.

"So where is my little Meri Bear anyway?" Percy asked.

"She's sleeping in with her dad." Desiree sighed wishing she was doing the same.

"Aww." Haley gushed from the back. "How are you and the baby daddy doing anyway?" Haley raised an eyebrow. She put extra emphasis in her tone.

"Me and my boyfriend are doing just fine." Desiree said shutting Haley up. Des turned up the volume on her radio and the adults rode in silence for the rest of the time.

The rest of the day became progressively less chaotic. After a few set backs Des was finally able to relax a little. She went back to her apartment around 11:00 and crawled into bed next to Nick.

"I'm so tired." Desiree whined causing Nick to wrap his arms around Desiree's waist and pepper kisses on Desiree's neck.

"I know Ma. Sleep a little bit I'll get Meri ready."

"You sure you got it?" Desiree yawned not really caring much of what answer he gave.

"Yeah don't worry."

"Okay Baby. Make sure you put her in the outfit I laid out on the closet door and her black sandals in the third rack from the top. And as far as her hair goes... I- I'll do her hair don't worry about that." Des sighed making the process as fool proof as possible. Nick would not have Meri looking crazy today. Nick chuckled and kissed Desiree's cheek assuring her that he had everything under control.

Meri was definitely awake as the couple heard Nick's name being called from the room across from his. "My Princess summons me." Nick smiled and makes his way to Meri's room to get her ready.

The next thing Desiree could remember once she was fully lucid was arriving at the venue. The only other people there were Nick's mom and his family, and Solana and Elio.

Immediately Meri started playing with Lio and the two started playing in the play place. While Nick and Desiree went to talk to family.

The boys arrived with their girlfriends and Izzy and Neviah, meanwhile Edwin immediately started taking over the DJ role. Desiree had to quickly tell Edwin to turn the music to something more PG when the playgroup moms arrived.

The party was going smoothly and everyone was having fun and dancing and everyone was absolutely loving Meri. The girl was truly the life of the party.

When it was time for cake and for everyone to sing, Nick was especially excited. He knew it was corny, but he asked the boys to sing teacher with him for Meri. It was one of her favorite PrettyMuch songs.

Zion started singing his verse with the rest of the guys doing the harmonies and Brandon doing the most (per usual) and Nick singing straight to Meri. The toddler dawned a wide smile as everyone was recording the performance. Nick picked up Meri and gave her a kiss on the cheek as the boys finished up singing.

"Aww that was so cute." Solana gushed and everyone cheered for the performance. Desiree couldn't help but over hear the playgroup moms fawn over Nick. The girl chose to ignore it, showing her maturity, but quickly gave the women a quick menacing glance.

After a lack-luster singing of Happy Birthday from the rest of the party-goers and cake it was time for presents. the part of the day Meri was anticipating most. She got plenty of toys and clothes from everyone. Her grandmother got her a doll house (Des had no idea where that would fit in her apartment) and Haley got her a bath set (Des didn't know how to feel about that one) but Meri's all time favorite gift had to be the puppy the boys got her.

It was Nick's idea no doubt, Des was a little upset that Nick waited until the last minute to tell her that he was getting a dog. Once Des laid eyes on the puppy, however, all her doubt about wether it was a good idea melted away.

Meri screamed of joy and Des cooed. "Nick this dog looks just like..."

"Bubble." Nick finished her sentence for her. Bubble was the childhood pet that Des had that passed while she was in high school and first started dating Nick.

"Nick, this is so sweet." Desiree hugged her most thoughtful man.

Meri smiled wide and raised her arms for Nick to pick her up. "Thank you Daddy." She hugged her dad's neck tightly. Everyone cheered and Nick smiled brightly.

"Oh, this is what it took for you to say it? Bribing you with a dog? I would've done it sooner." Everyone laughed and Nick kissed his daughter on the cheek.

Des thought the day and party went perfectly, or as perfectly as possible. Everything was dying down and the moms and their kids left and Nick's family had either gone back to their hotel or to the airport. All that were left at the venue were the boys, Solana and Elio, and Percy and Haley.

"You throw a good party Des." Solana grinned as they cleaned up the rest of the cake. "Maybe next time we should have a little less kids and a little more alcohol." Solana said nudging Des' shoulder.

"Are you even legal?" Edwin asked the girl teasingly and chuckled.

"Edwin pleases hop off my dick. You just turned 21 acting like you're all old and shit." Solana rolled her eyes and shoved Edwin lightly.

Desiree smirked at her friend once Edwin left their earshot. "Flirting?"

"Definitely not. Never that." Solana turned her down unconvincingly. Des chuckled and said "Sure" underneath her breath.

Desiree felt Nick's arms wrap around her waist and his soft lips on her cheeks. "You did great Ma."

"Thanks baby. And thank you for not stressing me out." Desiree saw Elio and Meri run by chasing the dog that still had no name. Everything was good, the day was a success, so no one was expecting the voice of the man that just so happened to walk in.

"Happy Birthday Meri. I got you a present."
