"Please, Mrs. and Mr. Scott sign here." The adoption counsel shows us where to sign the last paper for adoption. We sign the last papers and she gives us a copy of it and she smiles. "Are you ready to take your baby home?"

We nod and she takes us to meet our daughter. We enter in a room, Hardin has the car seat in his arm and I have a bag with some clothes for her. She's in a bassinet and she's ready to come home with me.

The last days were a mess for us. We have five days to get ready to be parents and this day is here. We went to baby shopping and we bought some essentials for the first day of life of the baby. We only bought a bassinet and with time we will buy more stuff until we prepare her nursery.

"And here is your baby girl. She's ready to go home with her new parents. A nurse with the pediatrician will come here to give you some advice."

"Good, thank you."

"Have a nice life with your baby girl." She leaves and I walk to the bassinet and I look at the little miracle.

"Emma-Lara Scott." He hugs me from behind, looking at our baby.

"She's not going to feel that she's adopted. And I don't want to keep it a secret. We will tell her with time, early. And we will explain her everything. Okay? I don't want her to feel different than a child that is not adopted."

"I agree with you, love. She will always feel love from us."

"Want to give everyone a surprise call when we got home?"

"Yes. They will be thrilled and maybe mad?"

"I don't care. Our dream came true. We're having a child." I smile and I turn to kiss him.

A few minutes later, the nurse and the pediatrician come in. We spend the next half an hour talking about what to do with our little baby. How to feed her, what to do if she cries, in a few words, they tell us how to be parents. We have zero experience, but we're going to get used to it soon.

When the conversation is done, we understood everything, we change the baby in her new clothes and Hardin puts her in her car seat. She doesn't make a sound. Since we decided to adopt her, we stayed a lot with her and she seems to get used to us and I'm really happy. We say goodbye to the nurse and the pediatrician and we walk to the car. Hardin fixes her in the back and I sit with her, so I will be here if she cries.

Honestly, I expect her to cry, but she doesn't. Two days ago, when Nora and her daughter left the hospital, little Addie cried the whole ride and she didn't stop until her mother started to breastfeed her. But to our surprise, Emma slept all the way back home.

Hardin parks the car in the garage and he gets out, going to Emma's side. He takes her car seat out and I leave the car, entering the house. We're a family now and I'm really happy.

As we enter, Hardin let the car seat on the floor and I gently unbuckle her belts, lifting her in my arms. Emma slowly opens her eyes and I smile at her.

"Good morning, sunshine." I kiss her little forehead. "Are you hungry?" I check if she's hungry, putting my bend picky in her mouth. And she sucks it, so she's hungry. "Babe, can you prepare some milk? She's hungry."

"Sure."

"Two scoops of formula and two ounces of warm water."

"Good." He pecks my lips and he goes to the kitchen where the bottles and formula are ready for her.

I can't believe our dream came true. We have a baby. This was an impulsive decision, but I know it was the best decision we could ever take. Even if this little girl isn't blood related to us, we already love her as it's ours. And it will be like this, even if with some miracle, we will finally have our baby.
