I paced the length of the kitchen while Lori stared at her phone with a glare.

We're both worried because Seriyah and Maria went out ten hours ago and still aren't back. This is the longest they've been gone without an explanation and we're both concerned.

The front door opens and Lori and I approach it immediately. I'm not too hopeful it's them because this has happened three times already. First, it was Gianna, it was Farida, and ten minutes ago it was Vince.

Gianna came by the house to find her brother Emiliano, hoping he'd be with Dominic in Dominic's bedroom. I don't know why she didn't call Amira first. She didn't explain too much because she was in a hurry. I realized I hadn't conversed with Dominic as much as I'd been talking to everyone else. Other than Angelo and Matteo, he's probably the person I talk to least around here and he didn't even do anything.

I made a mental note to become his friend or at least talk to him after this Seriyah and Maria thing calms down.

Farida was coming home from being out all day doing God knows what. She wouldn't tell me anything but she had a mischievous glint in her eyes and a matchbox in hand. I know that woman less as each day passes.

Vince came by to talk to Carlo about how he should resolve matters with Iris. He commented on something Iris made for him. She wanted to try something new and Vince's comment about how he didn't mess with it pissed her off. He explained it to Lori, Carlo, and me and it was a pretty good distraction as we laughed about how stupid Vince was when it came to his wife.

He just left two minutes ago to put our advice to use and said if he isn't back in an hour then they're fucking.

Seriyah and Maria step through the front door looking exhausted. They had blood stains all over themselves and somehow Maria's stains were worse. You can smell the dry blood so clearly that it makes me cringe. "What the fuck have you guys been doing all day?"

They looked up and raised a brow at my tone, Seriyah replied, "We killed someone."

"One person?" Lori scoffs. "You look like you took a bath in blood. Where'd you go, Bath & Bloody Works?"

"It's probably good for the skin." Ria shrugs.

"Yeah, come with me, young lady." Lori grabs her by the ear and drags her off as Maria slaps at her mom's hand. "Ma!"

"Why are you guys so mad?" Seriyah asks. "Want a call next time?"

"Why did you kill someone?" I glare at her.

"They were stealing guns." She frowns. "Why are you shocked?"

My daughter killed someone for stealing guns? Guns? How is she not guilty right now? Why would she do that? I know she's about to become Capo or whatever, but seriously she doesn't have to kill people.

"Ma." She says. "I hope you're aware that every single person working for Dad is a murderer. Dahlia and Nai included. They had to learn how to defend themselves in case of an attack. Eventually, you'll be a murderer too because it's how we survive. It turns out the guy I killed today was a mole working for the Russians, Ria and I are going to talk with his father-in-law tomorrow."
