Promises

Chapter 18

*Autumn's POV*
It was Thursday afternoon; so far, all day i had been doing homework.

I sat at the dining room table, Macbook on the side and Tea in hand; trying to complete my two last pieces of homework. The first one was Photography, we had to take a picture of something that represents our favorite months. The second one was for creative media, we had to design a logo for a new cafe down the road.
Except i couldn't concentrate on any of them.
The only thing on my mind was Joe. But why?

'Ugh, focus Autumn' i mumbled to myself.

After 2hours i had finally completed the creative media homework, after going into a daze every five minutes.

What was wrong with me?

It was finally Friday, Joe's coming round!
But the only thing is, i woke up feeling so lousy; the worst I've felt in a while.
I could feel my eyes burning and heavy; my nose freezing and red.
Great. Today of all days.
Despite feeling terrible, i dragged myself and got changed. I applied a large amount of makeup; trying to hide the dark rings under my eyes and redness on my nose. No use.
Ugh, i guess I'll just have to cope with it.

It was 12:00 and i heard a knock at the door; Joe must be here. oh gosh, please don't be awkward..

I opened the door to reveal Joe, dressed in black skinny jeans, timberland boots and a white t-shirt, with a smile plastered across his face.

'Hey Autumn' he greeted.

'H-' i began, but sneezed in between; great. So embarrassing.

'Bless you' he chuckled, 'you seem so ill, you can go back to bed if you like, i can go.'

'No, no, you don't have to do that, i'm fine' i sniffeled 'come in'.

He studied my face to see if i was sure, so i nodded and he came in.
As he walked in, he took off his shoes at the door and flickered his eyes around the living room.

'Nice place' Joe said seeming impressed, causing me to giggle.

'Do you want me to take your coat?' I asked; it was quite warm in the house.

'Oh- yeah please' he smiled nervously, slipping off his coat and handing it to me. I walked off into the kitchen to hang up his coat, trying to think of ways to start a convocation with him.

When i walked back into the living room, Joe was sat on the sofa on his phone. I was stood watching him for a while- i don't know why. He seemed to realize i was there & he broke his gaze with his phone, looked at me and smiled. It was the cutest smile i'd ever seen; i smiled in return.

'Soo, what would you like to do?' I asked breaking the silence.

'Erm-Do you have any films?' He asked unsure.

'We could watch the notebook?' I said.

The last part of the film i could remember was the part where Ali left Noah at the House; until i drifted off to sleep.

I woke up; not opening my eyes, but awake.  I felt my head proped up against something, it was Joe's shoulder. I'm so clumsy, falling asleep on him! But i was too tired to move and i faked being asleep; just to rest my eyes for a bit longer.
I must've been asleep for a while because i was listening to the voices on the movie and it was towards the end.

'Do you think that our love can create miracles?' Ali asked.

'Yes i do. That's what brings you back to me each time' Noah Replied.

'Do you think our love could take us away together?' Ali questioned again.

'I think our love can do anything we want it to' Noah stated.

Afterwards you could hear the two of them kiss as i thought of the scene in my head.
I could hear sniffling... Was Joe- crying?

I felt Joe place a delicate kiss on my forehead, his tears dripping onto my face; making me smile to myself.

After a few minutes i slowly began to open my eyes; trying not to make it obvious i was only pretending before.
I stretched, making Joe lift up uncomfortably. I looked at him and he smiled a cheesy smile.

Just then i realized. I didn't need to think of ways to start a convocation with Joe; it came naturally. It was like we were old friends catching up again, everything was normal. It was great, only this time i wasn't being sarcastic.

After having a takeaway Joe helped me clean up.
He got on his shoes, coat and headed towards the door.

'Well I've had a great time' he smiled.

'Me too, we should to it again sometime' i replied with a sniffle.

He pulled me into a warm, tight hug. The kind where you don't want to let go.

'Now, go and get into bed with some soup and clear up that cold' he chuckled, breaking off the hug.

'Will do' i smiled in return, closing the door after he left.

I just wanted to let you guys know i'm trying to do ficmas in December. I may not be able to update every single day since i post daily edits on my Instagram; but i will try to update as much as i can.
