Chapter Twenty Three

My eyes started to search for here the gun shot had came from, but that wasn't very hard because it came from the man who was standing on the poker table in the centre of the room with the gun turned up.

Scream filled the room which only seemed to make the man standing on the table angrier because he fired another shot into the air. "Shut Up!" he directed his anger to a group of girls that looked to be on a bachelorette party with all their sashes, garters and novelty shot glasses hanging around their necks on a strong of beads.

"He's a Dragon," Violet muttered from next to me. I nodded, already knowing what the man was from the dragon tattoo on his right wrist I spotted as soon as my eyes landed on him.

My eyes flickered to the table my friends had been seated at only a few minuets before. They were now all crouched on the floor.

Kyle, Drake and Jason were looking over the poker table we Vi and I had just left. I could see guns down by their sides with the safeties off, ready to fire at a moments notice. Johnny was behind them, talking to a scared looking Ash and a slightly worried looking Ryder who was already looking at me. When I caught his eye, Ryder raises his eyebrow at me and I just rolled my eyes at how nonchalant he was looking right know.

I was slightly confused at were the other were until I saw them I. The shadows on the other side of the room, behind the gang members on the table.

There were other dragon members stationed around the room, I estimate about five or six of them but we couldn't be sure how many the had waiting outside. I couldn't help but chuckle lowly as I saw Sam knock out one of the dragons without anyone making a sound.

I could safetly say that we were all sober now.

"I want all civilians out if the building, you will have twenty seconds from when I say go or you will be killed," the asshole standing on the table yelled.

My arm was nudged and I turned to she a gun in Vi's left hand. I checked that she has one of her own before taking it.

"If any of you so much as call any authority's, you will be killed within the hour. Go."

Everyone was immediately up and running towards the door. People were screaming and others were crying.

The man on the table was counting down from twenty with a sinister grin on his greasy face.

"Oh, shut up," I mutter to myself and quickly taking my chance to take the dumb fucker down.

The sound of my gun could still be heard over the screams of the last half of the crowd that was still exiting the room.

The first thing that happened was the stupid, obnoxious counting of the fucker on the table stopped and then he fell into a crumpled heap onto the table. The vibrant green of the table slowly turned red. There were screams and more gun shots.

"Paris!" I heard Kyle's familiar voice yell above the gun shots, the screams were all now muffeled by closed doors. I looked towards where my friends had last been and saw that only Kyle, Johnny, Ryder and Asher remained. I started my way over towards them and shot a man who was running towards me. The man fell to the ground and I got out of the way before he coud get up.

Both Ryder and Asher were wide eyed, this has been the second time they've seen me take someones life. The first time I killed the members of Dragons in front of the in that club, it didn't seem to faze either of them, Asher had been a little stand offish but he seemed to be fine with me after a few weeks. Ryder didn't seem to mind at all that I had killed someone in clod blood, but this time around both of them seemed shocked. My guess was that last time there was so much drama going on that they were to busy to actually let it sink in.

I had to turn my back on the two boys as I crouched down next too Kyle, I didn't want to see how they were looking at me.

"I'm going to cover Johnny while he gets Ryder and Asher out," he whispers next to my ear. "Once everything here is taken care of, you need to make sure everyone gets out of the building. The cops should be here in about 10 minutes so make it quick. Tell Jason to burn the room and I'll meet you around the block, behind the McDonald's," I couldn't help but snort at the chosen meet up place.

I didn't have time to reply before the boys were all crouched and running towards the back exit of the casino.

I stood up (probably the stupidest thing you could in a cross fire) and did a quick scan of the room. I saw that there was only seven Dragons left on their feet. I could see most of my team on their feet, I just couldn't see Sam. I started to panic and run through the tables but I only took a total of ten steps until I came across his lifeless body.

My eyes went wide as I took in his motionless body. There was blood coming out of his arm and a big, blotchy bruise on the side of his face. I couldn't think of anything else apart from that he was dead, he looked dead. Pale as a ghost, blood running out of him, completely motionless...

I held my breath as I lent down and pressed my fingers against the base of his neck. I let out a breath of relief when I felt the slow pulse in his neck. My head fell down against his chest as I realized that my friend wasn't dead. If any one of my friends were to die tonight, I would blame myself. I know no one would say it, but the fact that the Dragons keep popping up is my fault.

I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard the heavy stomping of feet coming towards me. I looked up to the right to see a bloody man coming towards me with an angry look on his face and a gun raised towards my direction. I raised my own gun and shot it, the man fell down mid-step.

The loud bang from the gun must have switched something on in Sam's head because as soon as my arm dropped he let out a groan.

"Is everyone okay?" I Jason yells out across the banged up room. There were bullet holes in all the tables and walls. There was dust everywhere and the room was just an overall mess.

There was a series of 'okay's and 'I'm fine's were heard throughout the room. "Sam has been hurt," I yell out and foot steps come towards me. "He should be okay, though," I say as Drake comes around the corner.

"We need to get out of here," he says as he reaches us. "You okay, dude?" Drake ask Sam as he helps him sit up. Sam grunts in reply.

Josh comes over and replaces me at Sam's other and the two men help their friend stand up.

"We need to get out of here," Vi yells over from the back exit. Jason was already tipping alcohol over the room and I quickly started doing the same.

Five minute later we were all walking (Josh was limping because he took a bad blow to the knee) along the back streets of Vegas. It was dark and dirty, not my favourite environment.

"Where are we going?" Jason asks as another set of police cars flew past us, sirens loud and bright.

"MacDonald's," I say from the front of the little formation we've made, "Kyle will meet us there with a car."

"Do you think he'll let us get some burger?" Sam asks as Vi fiddles with the make sift bandage we made for his arm. The bullet only grazed his arm so nothing series. " I really want a burger."

"You just got shot the thing you're worrying about you're stomach?"

"I'm always worrying about my stomach." All of us couldn't help but burst into laughter. Non of us could take what just happened lightly but it does help when you have some amazing friends.

And I had a gut feeling that it wasn't going to stay like this much longer, that something was going to happen.
