Of course the feeling was temporary as many feelings are. Later that same day I ran into my father and we did not have the most pleasant conversation.

"I can't believe you actually did that Camille! What kind of despicable thing was that? I've raised you better."

Well I can't believe he used that on me.

"Please. That line is for when I was 10 and still didn't know anything. I told you before, dad, we're done talking. And you can just reschedule can't you? You have enough money to send out more invites now." I take in a breath, "Plus I heard you had a lover's spat. Thought you might want to take some time to think about this commitment. You weren't able to commit to mom or me right?"

Before I could leave though, he spoke, "You're on very thin ice Camille. So far I've given you everything you wanted, and let you get away with all your little shenanigans. But actually trying to call off our wedding? That's too far.

"As for what you heard. It was regarding what you said actually. We've agreed not to interfere in each other's business. So when you said that, I shouldn't have believed you. Somehow for the sake of you being my daughter, I did. And you managed to cause a fight between us," he chuckles low then. "And the worst part? You did it without even meaning to. Belinda was right. You really have a talent to ruin things."

I draw back, blinking rapidly.

"Well, dad, you bring out the worst in me it seems." That silenced him for a minute. Still I stood, internally battered, awaiting some realisation that he did wrong.

His voice was gravelly, small, "Did I really hurt you that much?"

"I'd like to think not. But I suppose I'll let my actions speak for itself." I knew I wouldn't get anymore from him. So I left, trying to enjoy my win the best I could.

I had gotten the invite during lunch on Monday. Surprisingly it was the just the two of us today, not even Viv in sight. So I sat close, taking up Isaac's empty seat.

"What happened to everyone else? Did they not want a truce?" he raises an eyebrow, shrugging, "Oh come on Michael did you not tell your best friends that we shook hands and reached an agreement?"

He rolls his eyes at my sarcasm. It was clear he hadn't bothered to mention it. He loved chaos too much to see peace being achieved. Plus if they were smart enough, they'd not try and cross me.

So instead of replying he tossed me a black envelope with the invite residing inside. I held back a grin. To be honest, I loved dressing up. Especially during Halloween. After our family's income drained low, Halloween was no longer fun. But this year, I had a chance to have fun the way I've dreamed of.

Soon, we were eating and discussing costume ideas like we were old friends after he'd finally invited me to his little Halloween shindig. I suppose a truce does that. Allows you to have friends.
