As you may have already read in my previous author's note, the western district of the Pride Ring is home to various exciting characters. To be more on point, they hold spirits from various mythology, some well-known and some not so much. For example, Hoji is classified as an Oni; how he became will be told later(I don't wish to give away too much.), One had been told that they, too, were once humans who had turned into demons, be it by vengeance or magic. When honing their abilities within the spirit realm, a point in which Japan has a connection to the ethereal plane, they can move between Hell and Earth.

However, just because Oni and various other types of spirits exist in mythology and legends, it doesn't mean they can freely pass through all the rings of Hell

However, just because Oni and various other types of spirits exist in mythology and legends, it doesn't mean they can freely pass through all the rings of Hell. There are restrictions to some, Oni included; the only way to get further into Hell is to make them lose more of their humanity if they wish to be genuinely a demon. To understand the history of the Oni, I can say that when Christianity traveled to the East, it encountered a clash of sorts between the spirit realm and Hell, or, rather, a separate section of Hell. Both rulers had to have a lengthy conversation on where lines could be drawn and agreed upon.

As time passed, the western district became home to spirits and Oni mingling and coming together, creating their own way to make a profit and trade. Some of them were close to making a point to be an overlord, or have been, as time has continued. There were times when Lucifer had his sight upon them, wondering what they were doing and how they could be different from any other sinner who entered his kingdom. Many challenged Lucifer in battle and fell by him; few gained his respect from how they fought with him and accepted defeat. Within these, a few warriors had become watchers over the western district should their side be too wild with their magic.

Based on their anatomy, Oni are still classified as Sinners; they can't be children, even if they were once human. Spirits, however, can, but that is a meager, if not extreme, chance that a spirit can have children. Lucifer has the degree that should a child be spawned, they must live in the human world with the other spirits and never live in Hell. To visit them would have dire consequences in the human world, but to see in Hell is a different matter altogether. Depending on the child, they can only stay in Hell for a limited amount of time; Hell rejects living, but having magic on their side can allow them to stay with their parent, but it wanes and weakens over time. If they reach their limit, they're at risked dying and becoming part of Hell. A being that is neither human nor spirit is a free game in the domain of Hell.
