King Romulus' POV

Romulus had taken on a daring challenging, on account for his mate's sanity, he had taken to pinning her to the bed and making the most of their night together—Eager to get her to relax. And once she had, she was completely doe-eyed and calm.

So much so, that she would stretch much like a feline would when receiving a pet—So he opted for something similar, a calming stroke through her hair that whisked her to sleep without much more of a wait.

Sure, Romulus did want to apologize for their lunch going sour and missing the chance for dinner—But it seemed like she was well occupied regardless.

Now, however, he was forced to make his morning breakfast for the public to get a glimpse of him this morning before the Ball. Things still were in production, apparently.

"Good Morning, my King. I must say, Lady Rhea has taken planning to the next level. The Ballroom looks magnificent." Wilhelm boasted as he too joined the dining table.

But Romulus did not sanction him much more than a nod.

"There is a reason I asked her, Wilhelm, and not Mariah—Even though she has asked on countless occasions before."
"Yes, I wouldn't attend anything that female produces. Now then, must I remind you of the etiquette you must display tonight?" Romulus sure wished he wouldn't but he groaned instead.

"I must dance with a few females, converse with the males, and seem approachable. Is that enough?"
"Had you acquired a date, then this would be less work on your behalf. A female by your side would have been an easier feat." Romulus rolled his eyes as he took another bite, but the silence on Wilhelm's side was deafeningly worrying.

And so, he turned to gaze at the male.

"Perhaps...We can seek out—"

"I do not want a date, Wilhelm. It's out of the discussion."
"But the female I am thinking of...Has a bit of a fancyment towards you already. I have it under great authority." How was it that he woke up in Rhea's arms within the last hour, yet here he was already fighting for his life on something meaningless than humoring not only Wilhelm but supposed female as well?

"And what authority would that be?"
"She told me that you are handsome. She deserves a bit of attention tonight, and you would do well to agree with me."

"Careful, I tolerate you pushing thus far, Wilhelm. But do not be surprised when I have reached my limit."
"Lady Rhea is a beautiful female, and from what I've gathered—General Drex had made the offer to escort her to the ball and was denied. I doubt she is waiting for a date at all, but I believe a dance would go a long way to show your appreciation. As well as anger those on the council."

Had Wilhelm outted Rhea and her admission to calling him handsome? Truly, had that been their saving grace?

"Goddess sake, how do you switch between a female who called me handsome to Lady Rhea?"
"Isn't it obvious? Lady Rhea has called you handsome. But do be mindful that she had said this in the instance that I was keeping it to myself. It's clear I couldn't, not at all." Now that had left him to ponder, how was he meant to follow suit with this information?

It narrowed down to two reactions, show interest or annoyance. But with how silent he had been, Wilhelm had begun to sigh.

"I truly wish you would show some interest in the females in the court. I've taken into consideration the types you might enjoy. Lady Rhea is beautiful and far more intelligent than I give her credit for."
"Yes, Lady Rhea is a lovely female. I am just surprised she had held such a comment to herself. She has always seemed to hold herself as confident." He issued, and Wilhelm agreed, but reminded him that it was said in his company and not to be passed around so freely. So Romulus pushed just a little further, "Do you think she would enjoy a dance?"
