Alpha Queen Amory's POV

The path to the main sleep chamber was just as she remembered it to be, and instead, she gripped Romulus' arm tighter—Hoping that it didn't give off the wrong impression.

Not that she wasn't excited, but because she wanted to be a supportive Mate. Having seen it throughout her time as a Healer wasn't the same as it was now.

Not from a medical standpoint, and there were so few Halfies in the Kingdom that their union was a statistic in the low percentage.
Lower, if they counted in just nobility.

As they entered the room, Amory had taken the lead to sit at the edge of the bed while Romulus bided his time in undressing his shirt and boots. Still looking as handsome as ever, even when the scars echoed onto the better half of his chest.

"Shall I light the fire here as well?"
"Please..." She croaked, he must have caught her shivers. Not that it was at all because she was cold, but her nerves were trying to find a release somewhere.

In a moment of weakness, she had come forward and hugged him from behind, her face stuffed into his bare back.
Hoping to the Goddess that he couldn't feel her tears. "Amory..."

"I'm sorry, I think today was much more than I can handle."
"No, don't say that...You've faced double this and kept a smile on your face. This...Right here, between us, is vulnerable. I plan to mark you this evening, to make the claim...It will make things simpler, I promise you that." She nodded against his skin, but it still wasn't enough to settle the ache in her heart.

"Do you recall...My promise I made when you were planning the Ball?"

"No, the Ball was such a long time ago that I—Yes. I do." Her face flushed instantly as she recalled the promise or threat he had made, and then the followthrough caught her by surprise as he lightly tugged her by the waist and pressed his lips back to hers.

Allowing their tongues to dance and mellow the mood, giving the fire a chance to heat them.

And just as he expected, Amory had grown in confidence as she had started to control their kiss. But Romulus withheld until his beast couldn't manage to allow her to have such dominance.

Causing a low growl to settle through the room. It was then that her laughter followed suit, and he nuzzled deep into her neck, scoping out the spot he had decided long before.

"I should be mad that you've kept the fact that I'm your mate from me...But I can't seem to—Think right now." She hummed, and he pressed another kiss to the base of her neck to travel upwards.

"If I must distract you, so be it."
"It was still wrong, Romulus."
"I know, and I will apologize all night if I must." Another shiver pressed through her as he pressed his body against hers, somehow managing to get undressed as she had. However, the lace was riding up to taunt Romulus further.

He had taken time to memorize her body, and if it were possible, her skin felt softer—but his wolf had purred in response as her body continued to buckle and bend to his own movements.

"Rom...Does the bite hurt?"
"It won't. When we are at our peak, it will emphasize all that we are to one another." With that, he had nipped at the spot once more and she felt herself smile as he dug deeper. "You are welcome to bite me back..." He teased, and Amory found herself smiling thoughtfully in return.

"I can't bite you—"

"There are many things a wolf can do for their Mate—The terms protect and nurture is the grand scheme of it all. The second I get a whiff of your blood, my beast has the capacity to take over, all without warning. Our blood can heal one another. As it did before when my General found you close to death." It was far too much for her to truly understand what he was saying, not when the heat of his breath was tickling her neck.
