Chapter 7: Deprivement

It’s only 5:00 in the morning and I’m already waiting outside our house. Lauren instructed us last night to just place our clothes in a hanging garment bag at sa bahay na nila Kyle magpalit.

Tapping my feet on the ground, wearing my windbreaker jacket, I had my forehead creased when a familiar Ford Everest parked in front of our gate.

“Good morning!”

Kyle greeted as he got off the vehicle.

“Lauren told me that they’ll fetch me.”

“Yeah, change of plans. Are your parents inside? Ipagpapaalam din muna ulit kita.” He asked, taking the things I’m carrying. “No, they left minutes ago. Busy at work, so yeah.” I shrugged. “Oh, then shall we?” He jokingly said after opening the SUV’s door for me.

I said as he entered the driver’s seat

“Huh? Sa’kin ‘to.”

He chuckled and I can only blink.

“Sorry, si Nexon kasi nag drive nito dati when we went camping.” I defended as to what I can clearly remember.

“He lost in a bet, that’s why.”

He clarified as he started driving.

For a moment, there’s silence lurking around the whole vehicle. I didn’t mind it, maybe he just really tends to end up being quiet when driving. Also watching the morning streets of Winsborough.

“We’re dropping by Estelle’s unit, mag breakfast daw muna sa kanila before returning to Green Hills.” Kyle suddenly said and I only nodded, not knowing what to say.

As we arrived at Estelle’s place, Kyle and I already made our way inside and got into the elevator. “Inaantok ka pa?” He asked and I looked at his eyes from our reflection at the walls of the elevator. “I’m good. Also, do you want me to drive? I know you’re weary.” I replied, and he only let out a chuckle.

“There’s no way I’m letting you drive, Nessa.” He eventually said.

Hearing what he just said made me arch my brow.

“Excuse me? I know how to properly drive.” I replied

“No, I didn’t mean it that way! I mean, it’s our first time travelling together, you know. So no way, no no way.” He insisted and I rolled my eyes.

Even on our messages, ganito rin yung energy.

“If Estelle’s gonna drive, then I also will. Even half-way the trip, para makapag pahinga ka naman.” “Seriously, I can manage.” Kyle even laughed and I rolled my eyes, still not convinced though.

“Hala, LQ agad?” Lauren said as she opened the door.

“Doesn’t have the heart to do so.” Birong pabalik ni Kyle before bumping his fist with L’s. As I went inside, Estelle’s already serving the foods she cooked.

While Jexter’s almost dozing off at the couch.

I threw a glare at Kyle, giving him a deadpan look and he raise both of his hands,
