Chapter 30.1: Hearts’ Content

Sunday came, I’m browsing Kyle’s closet after he asked me to choose what pair of clothing he should wear while he takes a bath inside his room’s bathroom.

He even gave me a reminder to make sure it matches my outfit.

Pulling his gray polo shirt, and taking his black pants, I already laid it neatly on his bed. Bahala na siya. Not long after, nakatapos na rin maligo si Kyle at nakasuot ng robe nang lumabas siya sa banyo.

“You want me to get out?” Tanong ko sa kan’ya dahil magbibihis siya.

“No need, naka shorts naman ako Nessa.” He chuckled and I simply gave him a nod.

I already returned my attention outside his room’s window. Kitang-kita mula dito yung bahay nila Sean Jexter dahil nasa kabilang street din lang naman halos. All of the Fuentes’ houses are all located at three ends of the subdivision’s street. A good choice dahil nasa dulo na sila ng subdivision, meaning malayo sa gate where the highway is, no noises at all. Bakanteng lote na rin yung katapat ng mga bahay nila kaya good for privacy talaga.

“Done.”

Kyle announced and before I could look at him, he already hugged me from behind. “Mainit.” Reklamo ko, trying to shake him off me. “Bukas aircon, Nessa, huwag ako.” He laughed. “Uuwi ka na bukas...” He then sighed after he rest his cheek against mine after resting his chin on my shoulder.

Pagkatapos ng libing bukas ni Tito Joven, pabalik na rin ako sa Winsborough.

May pasok pa ako, I still have five more weeks of work left to cover as part of the hospital’s policy when submitting a resignation letter.

“You know I’ll actually have to return here for the next few weeks because I’ll be looking for a place to move into, mag-aayos din ako ng requirements for Southern Hospital.” I replied. Kyle started swaying his body, making the both of us have a little dance while watching every vehicle come and go from his room’s tall window.

“Give me a word, I want to help.” He said.

“More like you want to know if the place next to mine’s vacant.” I corrected. “More likely.” Kyle chuckled, making me shake my head.

“Tumigil ka nga.” Buntong hininga ko.

“Joke lang naman eh.” He defended.

I tapped Kyle’s hand wrapped around me, telling him to let go. “Punta na tayo kila Sean Jexter, I think I just saw my mother’s car.” I said, looking up at him.

Kyle then gave me a nod while brushing back his hair.

It was easy to see how the colours on his face changed. Years before, he has used to worn this bright and reserved aura around my parents, mainly to impress them I guess. But now...after he witnessed how my father harmed me, all he has left is this sense and urge to be on guard, to protect me from my parents. There were even times when he doesn’t want to talk about them, not even hear a thing about them.

We both no longer want to associate ourselves to my parents, respectfully.

And honestly, I preferred it that way.

Dinaanan muna namin ni Kyle sila Nexon, Chlowie, at Josef sa kabilang bahay bago kami dumiretso kila Sean Jexter. From Chlowie and Sef’s chatters, I heard that Estelle’s family’s also arrived.
