Chapter 34: Home

“Sana pagbalik mo dito Vanessa, kasama mo na si Kyle.” Nana whispered as I leaned closer to her after she asked for a hug.

“We’ll make sure to visit you when given the chance, Nana.” I said, caressing her back. “Kapag may kailangan po kayo magsabi lang kayo sa’kin. Magtatampo na po talaga ako kapag nalaman kong kay Kyle lang kayo lumalapit...” I added before looking at her in the eyes.

“Palagi kayong mag-iingat do’n, ‘nak. Mag-kwentuhan ulit tayo sa susunod.” She said, already tapping me on my shoulder after glancing way past my figure.

“Oh siya sige, hinihintay ka na ata ng mga kasama mo.” Napalingon naman tuloy ako kila Nurse Sheila na nakapila na papasok sa entrance ng airport. Returning my eyes at Nana, I already gave her another faint smile. “Mag-iingat din po kayo palagi. Sasabihan ko po kayo kapag nakauwi na ako sa Green Hills.” I said, already waving my hand at her.

Nana Ole was persistent yesterday, saying she wants to send me off here at the airport, kahit pa gabi na at kahit may kalayuan ang airport sa lugar nila. Earlier, I also made sure to have breakfast and lunch with her at their place. Nana Ole showed me their house which really felt coming at single glance. Tabing ilog yung bahay nila’t may malawak na bakuran. I’m sure Nana loves her life here the most; and I’m glad to see the evidence from her eyes.

We both had a good time telling stories, catching-up on each other’s lives kahit pa limitado lang ang naging oras namin nang magkasama.

I am never a fan of talking about myself, more especially about my life.

But certain people just easily tears that away from me.

Vanessa Custodio

Vanessa Custodio

See you. :

Kyle Leanard Fuentes

: Haha ouch

Ang hyper na naman niya.

Letting out a sigh, I already placed my phone inside my sling bag as I’m already next in line at the airport’s entrance. “Kaka-land lang daw nila Doc sa Mactan.” I heard Dana say. The four doctors who were with us for our medical mission all flew to Cebu with our diabetic patient. Sila kasi ang mag-aasikaso sa admission ng pasyente sa sister hospital ng Southern Hosp, I think they’ll have to stay there for at least one week so that they could make things work for the medical mission’s beneficiary.

They’re really invested in this project.

“Hindi na kayo bibili ng pagkain? May at least 30 minutes pa tayo before boarding.” Nurse Sheila asked as we made our way to our boarding gate.

“Pag-uwi na ako.” I shortly replied, already plugging in my airpods.

“Ako rin, busog pa naman ako.” Nurse Billy followed.

I slowed down my pace, letting the three of them walk ahead of me. I can’t think of another word to spit only to involve myself around them anymore.

Gusto ko nang magpahinga.
