CHAPTER SEVEN - FIRE HEART

𝓣𝙰𝙽𝙽𝙴𝚁

WE WERE ALL AT THE Rock Porium working. It had only been a few weeks since I joined the Mystic Rangers. "All righty. Work the beat. Work the beat. Stocking doesn't have to be boring." Xander said as he scooted around in a chair. I was helping Vida and everyone else in stocking the music records. I rolled my eyes. That's when Toby came in.

"Oh! Oh, it's you, boss." Xander said, realizing it was Toby. "Nice work, Xander. I like the way you've got everyone working. You are a born leader." Toby told him. "Here that, guys? Born leader." Xander said. The rest of us were not impressed.

"Who's the old guy, boss?" Xander asked. "Who's the old guy? Guys, Jake Bonebreaker, the man who put "metal" in "metalhead," lead guitar and vocal on metal megaclassic "Harry Hatchet."" Toby said. Xander shook his head. "Okay, your lesson — play it. Like it. Class dismissed." Toby said as he walked away.

"Guys, who wants to take care of the King of Metal?" Xander asked. "Not me." Nick answered. "Me either. He's older than my dad." Madison said. "I got things to do." Vida added. "Same here." I agreed. "Sorry. Heavy metal makes my nose bleed." Chip stated. "Fine. Do it myself, like everything else around here..." Xander said. "With a little help of some magic." Xander continued as he got out his morpher.

"Vivacim Erectu." Xander said as he pointed his morpher to the cardboard cutout. It came to life. "Hello, Cincinnati!" Jake said. "Oops. There's a slight magical malfunction." Xander commented. Madison chuckled as Xander's morpher beeped. "Rangers, there's a very strong dark-magic presence in your area." Udonna said.

"We can't all split on Toby. V and I will check it out. You guys help with, uh, heavy-metal boy. Nick said as he and Vida headed out. "Do you want some metal?" Jake asked. Madison looked at him. "Well, I want... some punes." Jake said. Jake started air guitaring as the customers stared at him.

"Mate, can you dial it down a tad, please? We don't wanna bring in Toby." Xander told him. That's when Toby came out of his shop. "Jake Bonebreaker in my record shop! I need a camera— need a camera! Camera!" Toby said. That's when our morphers beeped again. "Nick and Vida are in trouble. Let's go." Chip said as we all headed out.

"Ooh, wait. What about Jake?" Madison asked. "Uh, one more try. Vivacim Erectu." Xander said as we headed out the door without seeing if the spell worked. We arrived at the place morphed. "There they are!" Chip said. "Hold it!" Xander said.

We saw Necrolai. "Time to end this party." Necrolai said as she whistled and the monster she was with growled and turned into a taxi. "Deliver the map." Necrolai ordered. "That's just crazy!" Vida commented. The monster... taxi? started driving away. "Let's go!" Xander shouted. "I got it!" Nick said as we all started chasing after the taxi.

That is until Necrolai attacked us. "That's nothing compared to the power I'll soon have." Necrolai informed as she flew away. "More power?" Vida asked. "As if she wasn't bad enough." I stated as all of us stood up. "Let's go after her!" Nick said. Xander stopped him. "Wait! We've got another problem." Xander said.

"Smile — looks like we're on camera." Madison said as we looked at the security camera. We were back at Root Core. "You need to protect your identities at all cost. This tape could put us all in danger." Udonna informed as we watched the tape where Vida and Nick morphed.
