Chapter 34

Entering into Sky's perfectly arranged house wasn't a strange thing anymore, I feel so comfortable and at home here, it shocks me at times.

We grabbed milkshakes on the way here, so while Sky loudly slurps on his and I hang my coat on the peg by the door; we hear laughter from up the stairs and soon enough Sky's father and a blond lady comes into view as they descend the stairs. I instantly recognize the lady from the picture only now her blond hair seemed to be locked together making it look like dreads and she has a ring pierced on a side of her nose.

"Oh hey guys," Sky's dad sings on seeing us, removing his arm from around his girlfriend and giving Sky a quick one side hug before he can duck out. "I didn't think you'd be back so early."

Sky runs a finger over his nose like he's about to get mad. "This is the normal time for school to dismiss Dad, it's not early."

"Right," David smiles apologetically to his son, turning his eyes to me. "Israel Taylor."

"Hi," I squeak out, looking down at my leg and feeling all awkward.

He laughs, "I hope you're not getting into trouble hanging out with my boy."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Sky barks out before I can say anything and his Dad raises both hands up in surrender.

"Chill, he understands," David— Mr Hunt looks back to me, "right?"

I nod, "right."

"Hi Sky," the lady speaks up for the first time. "How are you?"

"Fine," he clips at her, eyes narrowed like he wants her to disappear.

"I'm fine too," the lady shrugs like she's oblivious of his looks, tossing a hair out her shoulder. "In case you're wondering, blood."

"Don't-"

"Okay," Sky's dad claps, cutting off Sky and forcing out a laugh like he hopes that would make the atmosphere less tense. His eyes flick to me and I give him a tight lipped smile. "We should be on our way, come love." The lady practicing jumps to him, smiling at me and Sky. "Bye boys, see you lads later."

"Good day Sir," I wave, watching them leave and shutting the door. I let out a breath once I hear the car start and I chuckle, looking back to Sky. "That was tense."

"Tell me something I don't know," Sky groans, pulling at his hair as he slumps down on the sofa.

"My house is not nearly as interesting as yours seems to be," I say sitting down beside him and placing what's left of my milkshake on the centre table.

Sky smirks with his eyes closed and resting back, "That's a good thing, Issy."

I pull his fingers off his hair, "you don't like your dad's girlfriend?"

He sighs, fluttering his eyes open. "It's not that I don't like her, she's fairly good. I just can't help getting riled up around her, can't bloody explain why."

"Hmm," I run my finger at the back of his palm like he sometimes does for me. "Thinks it has something to do with your mum?"

"Sure it does," he laughs humorlessly. "She's still biting my arse even when she's not here. So perfect."

"Do you think your dad is really serious about her?"

He runs a hand down his face, "maybe. He's been with her for a while now, even got her picture here and shit." His voice gets smaller, "maybe he's not waiting for my mum after all."
