Sleepy

Five o'clock in the morning was far too early a time for anyone to have to wake up, let alone go to school. Even for someone like Ahsoka, who was normally a morning togruta, it was difficult to stay awake.

After a particularly grueling mission the day before, Anakin had been furious to find out that the council refused to allow his Padawan to take the day off. As he eyed her slouched position at the breakfast table, he could practically feel the exhaustion radiating off of her (which could also just be the result of her mental shields slipping).

She trudged to the couch, eyes drooping with each step. Anakin tried not to laugh at how much she looked like she was sleepwalking.

She collapsed down next to him, pressing the side of her head into his shoulder. To his surprise, she didn't protest as he lowered her head to his lap.

"Padawan Tano?" came her instructor's voice from her holodevice.

"Here, Master," she grumbled.

Anakin pulled out his own holodevice, mindlessly dragging his hand up and down Ahsoka's lekku as her teacher rambled on about the climate of Christophsis.

The calming motion of her master's hand drew Ahsoka closer and closer to sleep with each trail he drew. Within minutes, she felt herself succumbing to the sweet, sweet nothingness of sleep.

"You're a good pillow," she mumbled, patting Anakin's leg with the hand that wasn't holding her holodevice. Anakin laughed quietly, knowing that she was half asleep as the slurred words exited her mouth.

She sighed deeply, relieved to finally be giving in to her fatigue. Her mind cleared as-

"Padawan Tano? Your answer to question three, please?"

Ahsoka's eyes popped open. She wracked her mind for an answer. She didn't even know what planet they were talking about.

"Padawan Tano, I think you're muted. Question three?"

Ahsoka's hands fumbled for the unmute button.

Just start talking... I have an idea, Anakin whispered through their bond.

Deciding that whatever he had in mind was worth a shot, she tapped the button, and opened her mouth. She cleared her throat.

"Um... for question three-"

"Crshhhhhhhh," Anakin hissed, leaning down to place his mouth closer to the microphone.

"- I thought that-"

"CRSHHHHH," Anakin continued, even louder this time. Ahsoka bit her lip, trying her hardest not to laugh as she realized what he was doing.

"- and that's why-"

"CRSHHHHH!"

This time, she couldn't hold it in any longer. She turned her face down, tucking it into the fabric of her master's sleep pants to muffle her giggles. Anakin broke character a bit too, laughing as he realized how funny he must have looked to Ahsoka.

"Padawan Tano, you're breaking up. You must be having internet issues or something," the instructor muttered. "Could you please mute yourself?"

Ahsoka gladly tapped the button, finally letting her laughter out.

"You're a genius," she giggled, raising her hand to high five her master.

"Wow, a good pillow and a genius? Two compliments in one day. You must be really tired."

"Am not," she mumbled.

"Snips, you fell asleep."

"Yeah, I just..." she whispered, her voice trailing off as she tumbled into her drowsiness once again.

"Okay, how about we just do this?" Anakin suggested in a quiet voice, tapping the hang up button on her call. "We'll blame it on the internet if anyone asks- your teacher can vouch for that."

"Uh-huh," Ahsoka replied, clearly not all there. Anakin looked down at her, curled up in his lap, and couldn't help but feel his heart soften a bit for his little sister.

"Alright," he whispered, shifting her so that she was in a sitting position.

Ahsoka was vaguely aware of the fact that she was being lifted up as the presence of the couch left from beneath her. She could make out the sound of her door sliding open, and the familiar warmth of her blankets being tucked securely around her as she was laid down onto her mattress.

"Sleep tight, 'Soka," Anakin whispered, pressing a small kiss to her forehead. He tiptoed over to the door.

"Wait," Ahsoka mumbled, blinking her bleary eyes. "Could you...?"

"Of course," Anakin replied, giving her a smile. "Scoot," he joked. She shuffled to the side to make room for him.

He climbed up onto her bed, laying down next to her. She instinctively snuggled closer. Her eyes shut as she reached for one of his hands with her own, placing it softly on her lekku. He got the message, and continued his motions from earlier. He laughed quietly to himself, knowing how embarrassed she would be with her own actions if she had been completely awake.

"Yehsa night, Sa'daar," she spoke, somehow slipping into her native language from the exhaustion.

"It's morning," he corrected. "But I get the idea. Sleep well, Snips."
