Jasper and I set off to the forest to conduct our unofficial séance.

Fear would have been the main emotion dominating me if not for Jasper's influence. He keep providing positive affirmations in tandem with a light mood, but I am still on edge.

"You know Victoria's still on the loose maybe another-"

"Mary."

"And sure those wolves they said they're going to keep-"

"Mary."

"And shouldn't we be-"

Jasper cuts me off with a gentle peck on the lips, his face still close to mine as his whispers, "Mary, you're spiraling, take a pause and relax."

I hesitantly put a hand up to his jaw, lightly connecting our lips for a few moments; my mind is quiet, no stress.

But then I feel cold. I heard a throat clearing that makes me tense and leap back from Jasper.

It's a man, I know him. Harry Clearwater.

"Harry?"

Both the apparition and Jasper are looking at me curiously.

He takes a moment to recognize me; the last I saw him he was alive, but to be fair so was I, "Charlie Swan's kid, right? Marianne?"

I nod, "Yes, sir."

"I died, but you can see me?"

I frown, but I feel Jasper's calming influence overpower the creeping anxiety, "Yes... I'm part of the Cullen's family now, I can commune with the dead... sort of... I'm not very good at it."

"You sound pretty good at it from where I'm standing. None of those young yahoos on the reservation have gotten close to catching her."

"Her?"

"That red head! She's the one who caused me to kick the bucket."

"What?"

"What?" Jasper inquired.

I tried to maintain my focus on Harry as not to lose him like I had with all the other ghosts

"Victoria's her name. She's the one that did this to me," I gesture. "The Cullens are hunting her down as well, what did she do to you?"

"On the reservation we knew one of your kind was killing locals so we went out on foot to hunt the bloodsucker down. She isolated me, and I had a heart attack after defending myself."

"I'm sorry. She'll be dead soon enough."

"You need to keep an eye on the waters."

"The ocean?"

"Yes," He nods. "She has been lurking and entering our lands through the water."
