Violet's mind is racing as she sits next to her younger sister on the stone stairs in the cafeteria of Alfea.
Her knees are tightly held together, her head is ducked down to face the ground, and her palms are flat on the stone as she slightly leans back. The cold feeling of the stone on her hands is the only thing making Violet aware of where she is. She's so caught up in her thoughts that she's having to put pressure on her hand so she is able to feel something from the real world.
Why didn't it kill her?
Yes, Violet had been holding a sword towards it threateningly, but surely that wouldn't have scared the blasted thing. It's a Burned One. If it were really scared of a sword, then the war years ago would have been over quicker than it had been.
