*Sebastian pov*

It's officially October, well it has been for the past 10 days and today we are out shopping for family Halloween costumes, Kim the kids and I.
Nico is in the stroller which I am pushing, while Wyatt is wrapped on Kim's chest.
The weather got definitely colder, but it's just how it is and I honestly can't wait for Nico to really experience snow this year, last year he was too little.

We still haven't found a theme for our costumes, we don't even know if we want them to match somehow...I guess we'll see...
We're walking down the streets, looking around ourselves to see if we can spot the right place to get our costumes from, there's a few in this area.

As we're walking I hear a noise coming from an alleyway
"Did you hear that?"
"No baby"
"It was almost like a cry...Maybe it's a kitten. Do you mind if I check this out?"
"No, just be careful" she tells me and I give the stroller to her
As I walk in there I hear that cry again and after rummaging a little I find a cardboard box and slowly open it.
"Jesus Christ!" I exclaim as I see what's in there
"All good there?" Kim asks
I nod at her and pick up the little bundle in my arms and start to coo and shush at it
"What is it?" She asks as she sees me walking back to her
"Someone left a baby in there..."
"What?"
"Yeah"
I carefully take the blanket off of the baby and little more and show it to her
"Dear god..." she whispers
"Looks like it's a girl" I say seeing the pink onesie she's in, it's very light material and so is the little blanket she has, so she must be cold
"This baby can't be older than a couple of weeks"
"She's so tiny" I say as I start to bounce up and down a little to make her calm down.
"We should call the police" Kim says
"Definitely...let's sit on that bench"
We sit down, I grab Wyatt extra blanket and wrap her in it then pull my jacket open and slip the little girl inside it and close it back up, it's big enough for her to fit there comfortably, I hope she won't get any colder.

"911 what's your emergency?" I hear speak from Kim's phone
"Uh hello, uhm my wife and I found a baby in a cardboard box in an alleyway"
"Ok, what's your name sir?"
"Sebastian"
"Ok Sebastian, I'm pinning your location, I'm gonna ask you to stay there until the police and ambulance arrive"
"Sure. We're sitting on a bench"
"Does the child appear to be hurt in any way?"
"I don't think so, but I'm sure she's cold. I wrapped her in my son's extra blanket and the put her in my jacket, it's big enough for her to be there comfortably"
"Perfect Sebastian, help is on their way"
"Thank you"
"Just doing my job"

Only after three minutes we see a police car and an ambulance approaching us.
"You're Sebastian?"
"It's me" I say standing up.
The officer shakes my hand and then an EMT walks to me and asks me to hand her the baby so she could check on her
"I just have a few questions for the two of you" the officer says
"Sure" Kim says as she's now bouncing Wyatt
"Where did you find the baby?"
"Over there" I say pointing to the officer the spot and telling him that I left the box there.
He asks more questions and we tell him everything.
"She appears to be ok, expect for the fact that she's a bit cold. I don't think she's older than two weeks"
"Thank you" the officer says before closing the ambulance door
"What will happen to her?" Kim asks as I pick up a crying Nico in my arms
"Ssshhh baby, it's okay. Dada is here" I whisper to him and see that the officer smiles at me
"I think they will keep her at the hospital for a few days, see how she's doing and then we'll be handed over to social services, while we will try to contact relatives"
"Poor baby" Kim says and I know she has tears in her eyes
"Thank you Mr and Mrs Stan for what you did" he says shaking both our hands
We bid the officers goodbye and decide we should go back home and leave the shopping for another day.

Back home Kim breastfeeds Wyatt while I give Nico a little snack before letting him play a bit.
I'm sitting on the couch, Kim just put Wyatt down.
"Come here" I say bringing her to sit on my lap
"How..."
"I don't know..." I tell her as she softly cries into my neck
It really made me sad, but I'm not one to judge, maybe her mother didn't really have an option, but these days there are surely safest places to leave a baby in...
