Your POV

After the whole incident that night with Yuzu, we didn't really talk about it ever again and just went to focus on our training. The day of the men's free skate went well than I originally expected especially after the whole Yuzu and Nathan incident. Yuzu manages to pull off a kuyashii and even landed his 4A in the free program despite a turn from his 4Lo landing, securing his third 4CC title with Nathan in 2nd and Boyang in 3rd. Once 4CC was over, the real intense training began as it was now time to focus on the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. I did go back home for a short while before began training again for the Olympics. It was nice to be able to go back home with a medal from a big international competition and even with the news that I got a spot for the Olympics. When I arrived back at the airport, there were a swarm of interviewers, cameras and many people with their phone attempting to come and interview me though I politely decline as I was only able to go back home for a few days just to relax a bit also maybe switch out my clothes. However, even going back home, I managed to squeeze a bit of practice in the local rink near my house. Just to practise the choreo and a few jumps along with footwork. Though all fun things must come to an end, it was time to go back to Canada to train for the Olympics which was a dream that I have been dreaming since watching Yuna Kim back in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

Whilst in Canada, everyone who was chosen by their country to represent in the Olympics were all training very hard. Zhenya and I were really focussing on our jumps with her training to make sure that she's able to do the 4S every time she attempts it while I try to focus on my 3A, using a harder entry which was the entry that Alena used and I have also been trying to do the back counter 3A and even from an ina bauer but the back counter one backfired as I fell and my chin hit the ice which everyone at the rink that day was worried but I told them that I'm fine and no concussion or anything. Javi then hit my head (ever so gently) and said we're not doing a back counter 3A and just stick to the way Alena does her 3A or maybe try from an ina bauer which did go well because I almost land it though used my hands to help so I wouldn't fall again. Training with the TCC was definitely a great mood booster as everyone was working hard for the Olympics and even the juniors were working hard for the junior worlds that's coming up shortly after the Olympics. The positive atmosphere was definitely helping with my mental state especially training with athletes who have been to the Olympics at least once before. Though everyone did sort of give advice to not think that it's the Olympics and just another competition but when your long-life childhood dream is slowly becoming a reality, it's harder to think of it as just another competition.

It was 2 weeks before we all had to leave for the Olympics and I just couldn't seem to get into the rhythm and would even mess up with the smallest things like entering the combination spin was in the wrong beat thus everything else was wrong. I was so pissed off that I would cry off the frustration but Boyang would normally come by and sit with me until I cooled off. However, once I cooled off and went back on ice, I still couldn't get everything right. I would pop some jumps or didn't land them properly, messed up the stsq here and there and even to the point where I was frustrated with myself that I went to the gym and just kept on punching the punching bag until my knuckles were red, almost purple. Javi had to constantly tell me to stop otherwise I would go so far to maybe even continue punching until my knuckles would bleed out. Despite everyone trying to help me and ask why couldn't I get in the beat, I would say that I myself don't know why. Maybe I was nervous, maybe I was thinking about it too much because I really want to do well at the Olympics. Whatever it is, I really need to get my mind straight otherwise this will keep going on until the Olympics.

Today, I decided to head to the rink earlier than usual. I woke up at 5.30 in the morning which I haven't done in a long time so I was basically looking dead. I took a hot steamy shower, made hot chocolate as it was freezing at 6 in the morning when I finished my shower. I immediately changed into my workout wear, put a layer of long sleeve workout wear on top of my short sleeve workout wear then a jacket on top. Grabbed my skating bag, my hot chocolate, put on my shoes and head out as quietly as possible as I was living with Zhenya and I didn't want to wake her up. I then took a bus to head to the TCC and arrived there at 7 in the morning. I then went my way inside, placed my skating bag as I went to the studio to do some stretches, off-ice warm-up like doing some jumping ropes before actually doing off-ice jumps and even doing an off-ice rundown of both my short and free program. I was so into the program that I didn't notice someone walking in until I finished my free program and was doing the ending pose that I heard a clap. I was so shocked then when I turned around and saw that damn Japanese standing in the corner that was not in the mirror's shot, I was taken aback and hit on the railing of the studio. Of course, I didn't notice him. He was in the corner of the room that wasn't in the mirror's reflection. Once I actually stood my ground and took off my earbuds, the both of us just look at each other until Yuzu signals me to follow him.
