Chapter 20

Boyfriend

"It was a flop a couple of years ago, but we sought key resolutions and development for years. This is gonna be perfect!"

I nodded my head lightly as I reviewed our progress in the business plan.

But Ian Bernardino was able to tweak my perspective a lot. Some of us pointed out the irony in the idea. How about the plastic materials used for some containers to hold powders? Isn't that a type of waste, too?

"We will use recyclable materials like glass, of course. Also, it is time to promote the benefits of beeswax packaging. Be ready for possible questions so we can prepare our defense."

"The brick and mortar store. This can still be improved."

Lahat ay napalingon kay Mr. Giovanni.

"What's wrong about it?" ani Ate Michelle.

"Take an educated guess," Mr. Giovanni declared as he slid his copy of the business plan draft on the table.

"Hmm." Ate Michelle squinted her eyes and moved to that page when suddenly, Edison Pascual chuckled.

"Let me have the first guess," halumbaba nito sa mesa. "For a convenience store, our current outlet location is quite boring and inefficient. There's a lot of strategic locations than this one, both from the marketing and traffic perspectives."

I remembered something as I stared at the piece of paper in my hands. Napamulagat ako.

"Corner stores can anchor a neighborhood..." I murmured unconsciously.

"Who's that?"

I snapped out of my reverie when Edison's voice echoed in my ears.

"S-Sorry! I didn't mean to inte-"

"That's what I'm talking about!" Instead, Edison snapped his fingers at me. "Corner stores have more access to foot traffic and most of the time considered a local landmark!"

"Yeah..." Napahaplos na lang ako sa batok.

The idea is very interesting. By locating an outlet or store on the corner of a street, you will gain access to both roads, bringing more foot traffic to your store premises.

At kadalasan, 'di hamak na nagsisilbi nga itong landmark ng isang kabayanan o distrito. An additional passive marketing at that. Zero waste products or services may scare people that are not that knowledgeable or well-off here in the country.

Some may accuse me of being a snob for turning my back on them just because I have a set of training to attend.
