Chapter 41: First gym badge!

With both the Starlys evolved into Staravias, and Shinx training more with Eevee and Kirlia, everyone reached to the outskirts of Oreburgh and rushed to the gym hoping to get the badges by today.

The gym was in the middle of a very small mountain with a pretty scary appearance overall. "The gym looks quite scary" Arlo said
"This looks like the kind of gym you need to challenge if you're serious"
"Well then we ARE serious about it!" You exclaimed running to the door energetically with Spearow, followed by Ash and Pikachu then the rest.

Before you could open the door, it already opened by itself revealing Paul with another older man behind him.
"It's Paul!" You and Ash exclaimed in shock
"Do I know you?" He asked confusedly
"I-" "row-"
"Paul, are these friends of yours?" The man asked
"No way" he immediately replied, probably disgusted at the thought of being friends

"You must've just faught a battle, got a badge?" Ash asked
"Hey, that's none of your business" he replied rudely which made Ash walk up to him angrily
"I bet you're here for a battle too" the man said
"Huh- yeah, my name's Ash and I'm from Pallet Town, this would be my first battle in Sinnoh"
"I'm Y/N and basically whatever he said"

"Say that's a really long trip from Kanto, welcome to the temple of rock pokémon"
"You mean it's a rock type gym?" You asked
"Duh" Paul looked at you in disbelief 'is she dumb?'

The man introduced himself as Ian and informed that the gym leader Roark went out while Paul left the place while glaring at you and Ash.
Ian gave the two of you Sinnoh's badge case and said that Roark was at the coal mine.

Upon reaching there, Roark was seen talking with a fossil he discovered and hearing that he got three challengers ready to battle him, he came back to the gym with everyone only to challenge Paul first and ended up losing.

Roark was impressed by Paul's battle and gave him the Coal badge.

"Thank you very much Roark, I'll see you" he bowed and took the badge before turning around to leave
"Where you going?!" Ash asked pretty angrily
"Hm?"
"Aren't you gonna stay to watch my battle?!"
"Ash you need to calm down" you said, kind of worried to see how much angry he was getting at Paul

Paul smirked at his response
"What's so funny?!" Ash shouted running over to him
"That you want to me to watch you lose"
"What?!"
"Alrightttt" "pika pika" "row!" Dawn, Pikachu and Spearow immediately stepped between like a referee "time out!" She said facing Paul "you already battled Ash and Y/N once, why not stay and watch?" She asked him but he just kept staring at her emotionlessly "what- what's wrong?"

"whats wrong? Who're you?" He asked pissing Dawn off
"EXCUSE ME YOUR RUDENESS BUT WE'VE MET ONCE BEFORE THE NAME'S DAWN" She shouted, erupting like a volcano
"Don't remember"
"YOU THINK YOU'RE FUNNY DON'T 'YA?! LISTEN MISTER YOU NASTY AND SPOILED BRAT, APOLOGIZE" Dawn yelled, ready to hit Paul in the face but Brock immediately held her back, controlling the situation

"Imagine Brock didn't held her back" Arlo said laughing at the scene
"Dawn fighting with Paul would be funny" you replied laughing too before going upto them.

"If you want, you're welcome to stay" Roark informed calmly
"With that enthusiasm how can i refuse?"
"Good! I'm gonna show you a while new style of battling!" Ash replied "wherever you're ready, I am!" He said to Roark
"Ash would you mind terribly if we have our battle two hour later?"
"Huh?"
"You know my pokemon and I just went through some serious battling and to tell you the truth, were exhausted"
"I hear yeah-"

"Nahh, i ain't letting you battle next!" You interrupted looking at him "I want to battle next"
"No way! I'm battling next!"
"No i am!" The two of you started to argue about who's going next while Paul sighed and left the place while murmuring "pathetic"
