National Elf Service

The cost of making presents
Is going through the roof;
A burden on Elfdom's economy
They fear they can't afford.
They've imported Dwarfish labour
To keep the wages down.

But some are not happy in Elfdom;
With so many Dwarves around.
Though it's said
Without Dwarfish labour
The whole thing would fall down.

Santa's on the problem
For fear they'll vote him out.
There's talk of competition
And tendering services out.
But there'd be problems
With Elf Service unions
Who wouldn't like that at all.
A hint of privatisation
And their tools will all go down.

The bottom line is Christmas
Is going to cost us more.
If we don't dig in our pockets
It will all fall on the poor.
So for the sake of a Merry Christmas
Get your wallets out.
It's cash in the tills
Makes for Christmas thrills
That's what it's all about.
