Waves on an Indian shore

The waves will lash an Indian shore
But I won't be there any more
A brilliant interlude for me
But India's journey will go on
For Indians their life, their home
For me just memories dwelt upon.
India changes but stays the same
The waves will lash an Indian shore
But we won't be there anymore.

A land Britain borrowed, made its own
The jewel in our Queen Emperor's crown.
We left our mark but India's strong
She stays herself and carries on.
Two nations bound by common fate
For India helped make Britain great.
A land at once familiar, foreign
Exotic yet makes us feel at home.
Waves will lash an Indian shore
But we won't be there anymore.

India thrives on different cultures
Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Sikh.
She takes and borrows from each culture
Absorbs them all, makes them her own.
Britain too's now multicultural
Many Indians call it home.
Corner shops are always Asian
Curry is our national dish.
India's free but memories bind.
The fate of nations intertwined.
India changes but stays the same
Waves will lash an Indian shore
But we won't be there anymore.
