2. I Care

3rd Person Omniscient POV

Night falls outside the prison and Sam is in the guard room along with Y/N and Ant.

"Y/N how was Dream today?" he asks.

"Fine, he didn't really talk but that's expected, he doesn't need to."

"Did he say anything useful?" Sam asks.

"No, he just kind of told me he didn't trust me and wanted me to leave."

Well technically yes but also no, she thinks. He did end up revealing his whole backstory and plan which I was not expecting but Sam doesn't get to know that. Dream will just be hurt more. I don't hate Dream, I hate seeing him getting treated this way.

"I think I'll give Dream his dinner," Sam says switching the topic.

"You sure?" Ant asks.

"Yeah, why not?" Sam walks off towards the cell without another word.

Ant shrugs and continues patrolling but Y/N follows Sam.

Just as Sam reaches the lava, he turns around.

"Y/N what are you doing here?"

"Just came to help you with the lava."

"Oh, well thank you I guess."

She lowers the lava for him revealing Dream. The bridge starts to move as Sam steps on it.

"Leave it open," he says. "It will only take a minute."

Sam walks over to Dream and smiles.

"Dream, wake up, dinner."

Dream grunts and slowly opens his eyes to find Sam.

"Sam? I thought Y/N was sup—"

He's interrupted by a slap across his face.

"Listen," Sam growls bringing his lips close to Dream's ear. "She's the new prison guard and will be babysitting you and I don't want you taking advantage of her because she's a girl. If you touch her, I will make your life worse than hell got it?"

He punches Dream in the face.

"Got it?"

Dream hums a weak response and Sam shoves a potato in his mouth.

"Good," he huffs and walks onto the bridge.

But Y/N watched this, and she wasn't going to let that happen.

Just as Sam stepped off the bridge and the lava lowered, she grabs his arm and yells at him furiously.

"What is wrong with you?! Why did you have to threaten him like that?!"

"He's a prisoner! He deserves it!"

"He doesn't deserve to be treated like that!"

"Y/N, you have no idea what he did. All the pain he caused others!"

"Let's talk about this with the other guards."

She pulls Sam into the meeting room and calls for Bad and Ant.

"What's going on?" Bad asks looking at Sam and Y/N both fuming in confusion.

"Both of you!" she yells. "Sam and Ant, decide that according to the guard's job description, torturing the prisoner daily is on the list!"

"He deserves it!" Sam yells back. "He caused all of us pain!"

"Sam, I don't think this is good either," Bad says quietly.
