33. Old Friends

Dream POV

I watch Punz sleep while Y/N writes furiously in her journal. His eyes flutter slightly from time to time but they stay shut.

I hear Y/N close the book and place it on the bed.

"It's 3:00 am, I'm not waiting for Punz anymore. This is important," she walks over and firmly shakes Punz.

He awakes with a start and glances up at Y/N.

"Y/N?"

"I need to discuss something with you and Dream. We'll talk about what happened with this," she gestures towards his wound. "Later."

Punz nods and she helps him into a sitting position.

I sit on one of the couches and Y/N sits on the third. I pull off my mask and breathe deeply.

"First, how do you both feel about having more allies?"

"Well, allies would be useful. Especially when the whole Smp is after you and Dream," Punz begins, twisting his fingers together.

"I agree," I nod in his direction. "Allies would be beneficial but we need to make sure that they can be trusted."

I glance at Punz and he looks down quickly.

"Okay," Y/N rubs her forehead. "When I left you by the lake yesterday, I went to find Sapnap to have a little talk with him. We met in a clearing and talked for a bit about some questions he had. I noticed he seemed interested in me during our fight."

"I noticed that too."

I remembered Sapnap always looking at her in awe taking out others but charging furiously to cover it up.

"I made him a deal that I would tell him more if he met with me, the same place, at midnight, alone. He accepted and I slipped out a few hours ago to meet with him again. He asked about you Punz."

"He did?" Punz asks, surprised.

"Yeah, he said that he is sorry for abandoning you and will be trying to rescue you soon. I told him that was unnecessary as you were doing fine. I also told him about what happens to Dream in prison."

I sit up at her words.

"What did you say?"

"I told him the truth. He instantly felt bad that he threatened to kill you if you escaped and only visited you once. He asked to join us.

"What?" Punz asks.

"He wants to join us," she repeats. "I told him I would consult with you two first since you both have some interesting relationships with him."

What do I want? Sapnap would be a useful addition and I would have my friend back but he betrayed me, just like everybody else. How can I trust him?

"Well, he wants to be with you Dream. He wants to help you become better and I know he wasn't lying because his emotions were real and he was being sincere."

"Punz?" I ask him. "What do you think?"

"I don't know man," he mumbles. "Sapnap hasn't been the best friend to me but we had a good past and I do want to rebuild. I just can't be sure if I can trust him."

"You know what?" Y/N says finally. "I'll leave a message for him, telling him to meet us someplace at night. There you two can talk with him and I'll stay close to watch. Plus eavesdrop on your conversation."

"What if he doesn't come alone?" I ask. An image of Sapnap, Sam, Bad, Quackity, HBomb, Eret and the rest of the Smp storming through the trees flashes through my head.
