3rd Person Omniscient POV

"Dream—"

Tommy reaches his hand inside the box and pulls out two discs. One with a purple middle sticker and one with a green middle sticker.

"Cat and Mellohi?" Tubbo asks. "Check if they're real"

Why did every single comment guess this correct? 😩
You guys are getting good at guessing my plot twists but you won't be able to predict how this story will end 😏

Tommy once signed his name on the stickers of the discs. He careful flips them over and squints at the center. Dreams watches with amusement, arms crossed.

Y/N smiles.

It's time for Dream to reveal it all to them. Hopefully they won't see him as the villain anymore.

"They're real" Tommy whispers. "Why?" He turns to Dream. "You stole these from me. You always wanted them to have control over me, to have control over the Smp. Why did you give them back?"

Dream glances at the silent crowd, all waiting for his answer.

"I never wanted to control people. I wanted the Smp to be at peace. Once factions started popping up, the Smp became divided. The only way to unite everyone was to make them fight for a common goal. I became the villain so all of you would hate me, you would put your differences aside and work together to take me down."

Silence falls, the realization becomes clear.

Dream sacrificed his freedom, friendships, and attachments to become the villain, for the greater good of the Smp.

"I don't hate you Tommy" Dream continues. "I just hated the fact that you continued to make the same mistakes over and over again. You continuously griefef and stole, time and time again. You didn't learn. I punished you to help you grow and see the error in your ways. And you have" he smiles. "You changed and started considering others' feelings"

Tommy runs towards Dream,
and hugs him.

Dream seems surprised but hugs Tommy back.

"I'm sorry" Tommy says, glancing up at Dream. "I always thought that you're were the bad guy, and always would be. That peace would never be achievable if you were still around. I didn't know that you were trying to work towards peace as well"

"That's what makes someone a villain, you don't understand their true motives and only see the bad actions taken which are sometimes just necessary steps towards the greater good"

Sam smiles and nods at Dream's words.

Tommy steps back and smiles.

"I think that you're the hero in this story"

"Tommy," Tubbo holds out another present, "Before you start crying, open your brothers' presents.

Tommy grabs the package and puts the discs in his ender chest. He shakes the box, it feels very light.

"From Wilbur" he reads.

He opens the box and smiles. Inside are photos, Tommy and Wilbur in their L'Manburg uniforms. Tommy shooting a crossbow, Techno, Phil, Wilbur, Y/N, and Tommy sitting around a fire roasting marshmallows, Tommy blowing furiously on his burned one.

Inside is a note:

I know we had our differences and our relationship hasn't been the best these past few months, but I still love you as a brother. I always had and always will. I hope we can put the past behind us and grow close again.
