60. Help From the Shadows

Y/N POV

"Y/N?" Dream asks. "Where are you going?"

"Somewhere"

"C'monnnn" he whines. "Stay with meeeee"

"You remind me of George when you whine like that" I giggle at the thought.

Dream huffs.

"I love you. Just stay with me until I fall asleep"

"Fine"

I climb into bed next to Dream and he immediately cuddles against me. I brush a soft kiss in his hair and smile.

After a few minutes, Dream's breathing becomes slow and even. His chest rises and falls with heavy breaths and his face is relaxed and calm.

Does everyone look younger asleep? He doesn't look like someone who would go to war against a child. I know he wants peace but I'm not sure if this is the best way. He believes it to be and I— don't know. I'm going against my brother again.

I slowly slip out of bed and put on my black clothes. I bring my armor just in case and of course, my weapon of choice, my discs.

I slip on my mask and make sure to take a secret tunnel dug by Dream that leads straight into Las Nevadas under the casino.

Purpled wanders around by the fountain and I feel it's the best way to confront him.

"Hey Purpled" I say.

He turns around and pulls out his sword and holds it defensively in front of him.

"What do you want?" He asks.

"I just want to talk" I raise my hands slightly until he lowers his weapon.

"About what?"

"Purpled, why are you fighting on their side? You know they're going to lose"

"If I fight with them, Quackity will give me the revival book."

"Really? Quackity has only interests in himself. He built this whole casino to make money for himself. Do you really think he'll share the revival book with you?"

Purpled hesitates.

"Besides, Dream won't give up the book. I don't even know it. He told me that he would rather die than give up the book. But, if you fight with him, he will be more likely to revive you"

"That's— true" Purpled muses to himself.

"You aren't going to get the book, no one can, but you can at least make it more possible that he'll revive you"

Purpled stares off at the stars.

I smile, he knows I'm right.

"Alright, I'll join Dream. What does he want me to do?"

"Actually he doesn't know yet, I'll tell him later tonight. For now, I need you to collect TNT and be ready to destroy their supplies at the right moment"

He nods.

"I can do that but what if I get caught?"

"I'll make sure that if you get caught, we'll find you and take you to our base where you'll be safe"

"Thank you" Purpled smiles. "I don't think the Resistance is going to win this war. Our gear and armory is pathetic"

"Then I guess it's a good things you agreed to ally with Dream"

"Yeah" he chuckles softly. "I guess it is"

"Well, I'll see you around Purpled"

"You too Nightmare" he smiles at me before continue his patrol.

I make my way to a familiar lake and reach into a dark green, velvet pouch. Scattering the gold dust along the water.

The lake bubbles and DreamXD emerges again.

"Why hello Y/N, long time, no see"

"Hello XD" I smile. "I assume you know what is happening"

"Of course" he says. "I know everything. You pretty much have this war wrapped up."

"Well that's the thing. Dream is making Sam spy on the Resistance for us but we both know Sam will betray us. I'm worried that it will be when Dream least expects it and it could lead to Dream getting killed on the battlefield"

"Hmmmm I see. How are the elytras?"

"Pretty useful. Dream and I have developed a bomb tactic where we fly above and drop TNT bombs down"

"Well I can say that I don't know exactly when Sam will betray you guys but it will happen. But I've been dying to give you this"

DreamXD reaches out and puts something in my palm. An emerald shaped like a star.

"What?" I blink at him in confusion.

"It's a Dreamvisitor. It allows you to walk into the dreams of anyone you've seen before. You'll then have full control of their dream, able to change anything around them and make it into a nightmare."

"Thank you" I finger the points of the star. "I can find use for this"

"I'm sure you will. Anything else?"

"Actually there is. I need someone to be a secret ally on the battlefield. Someone that no one will see coming. This person"

I hand him the slip of paper I wrote the name down on.

He inspects it for a second before going silent.

"Do you know where they live?" I ask.

"Yes, but are you sure that they will be useful in this war?" He stares at the paper.

"Yes, no one will want to kill them"

"Well you're right about that, here" DreamXD hands me a book bound in dark green leather. "This book has their history, information, past, and location. Good luck"

"Thank you" I flip through the pages and smile at their history.

Oh they definitely won't be easily killed on the battlefield. They'll be too loved.

"Thank you DreamXD"

"No problem Y/N, I look forward to watching this eventful war"

"Oh it'll be eventful" I smile before going off in the direction of the certain person's location.

I travel through the nether but even that takes hours.

Back in the Overworld, I use the elytra until I find a small house, nestled in a dense forest.
On an island surrounded by an ocean.

I drop into the trees and put my elytra away.

I tuck the book away too and make sure to have my sword in my belt.

I knock on the door, three times.

The door opens a crack.

"Who are you and what do you want?" The person asks. Their face is hidden by the shadows.

"How do you feel about fighting in a war?"

"I do like fighting and occasionally killing people" they reply. "Who's it for?"

"Fighting with Dream against his enemies in a war"

The figure freezes and stares at me.

"Dream?" Their voice is a whisper, barely carried by the cool evening breeze.
