I spent most of Thursday and Friday trying to worm my way out of the blind date Daisy had set me up on.

I love my best friend, she was one of the best people in the world, but sometimes she was a little too supportive. Despite my protests, she had set me up on a date with Parker Diaz. And to make matters even worse, I also had to have dinner with her and Greg. I had been trying to get out of the date, but no matter how hard I tried, she always snapped at me until I finally gave in.

As I stood in my room now, I couldn't help but let out a shaky sigh in front of my mirror. I've been going back and forth between two dresses for the last hour.

"You ready for your date?" I jumped, throwing my arms over my chest despite the fact I was wearing a tank top.

"How did you know I had a date?" I asked, slowly dropping my arms as River stepped into my room.

"Your best friend has a big mouth." He replied. I gestured toward the room across the hall.

"How did you know my brothers were gone?" The questioned slipped out of my mouth before I could fully process it. River shrugged, his eyes flickering from me to the two dresses spread out across the bed.

"I heard Caleb say something about a baseball game. I figured that they'd all be going." He gently pushed me away from the bed and took the royal blue dress, handing it to me.

"This one." I frowned, nodding toward the black dress.

"Why not that one?"

"I've seen it on you. You aren't wearing it." He snapped, finally turning his eyes back to me.

"When did you become my father?" I growled, starting to get a little irritated. What right did he have telling me what I could or couldn't wear?

"I'm wearing this one." I took the black dress from the bed, smiling as I walked toward my bathroom.

"Because I don't want you too right?" Was River's response. I sent him a smirk over my shoulder and a quick nod.

"That's the exact reason."

I waited for almost three hours at the restaurant, making up on excuses to why Daisy hadn't shown up. She hadn't sent a text or called, or even had Parker or Greg call me. She had literally stood me up, and I couldn't help but feel a little pissed.

"You get stood up?" I gasped, knocking over the little water I had left in my glass. The waiter had taken the seat across from me, his red hair ruffled as if he had been running his hands through them.

"How'd you know?" I asked, sarcastically. He shrugged, smiling as he nodded toward someone in the kitchen.

"It's not every day I see a beautiful girl like you sitting in a booth for like three hours without ordering." I could feel warmth spread through my cheeks as I fiddled with the red napkin in my hand.

"I guess I better head home now. They obviously aren't coming." I started to stand up, but the waiter held up his hand, stopping me.

"Hey, let me buy you dinner. I'm off now, and it's the least I could do. I know what it's like to be stood up." I hesitated for a second before nodding.

"Okay." I muttered. He started asking a few questions before I finally started to open up. And even then, I couldn't push the knot in my stomach away. The knot that had been caused by having one of the very few people I trusted blow me off like I was nothing more then an annoyance.
