It felt as if the walls had started to close in on me.

I could hear Scarlet's heavy breathing from the other side of the stall, the way her breaths would come out shakily.

I was relieved that nobody had walked into this bathroom, it had been Scarlet's idea to come to the only bathroom on campus that was hardly used because no one knew where it was.

"River?" I lifted my head up from where it was against the stall door, my heart kick starting.

"Carls?" I whispered, pushing on the door open. "You okay?" I added when she didn't respond. She was sitting on the toilet, staring down at the plastic white piece of crap in her hands.

"I'm scared." She breathed out, her beautiful brown eyes glistening with tears, "I'm fucking scared, River." I knelt down in front of her, pushing her hands down gently so she was looking at me.

"Whatever that thing says doesn't matter. You and me are in this together, Carls. No matter what." She was shaking so bad that I had to take the pregnancy test from her before she could drop it.

"Hey, look at me." I tilted her head up with my finger, "Remember when Mia had her baby last year. Do you remember how happy she was?" She was shaking her head now, her brown locks falling into her eyes.

"I'm not ready, River. I can't." She shut her eyes as tears rolled down her cheeks, "I still have to finish school and get a job and-"

"And it's all gonna be okay." I assured her, kissing the top of her head, "It's all going to work out." She nodded, taking the test back from me.

"One. Two. Three." I stared at the test blankly, not understanding what it meant.

"Shit." She whimpered, lifting her head up so she met my eyes. "River, shit." She crawled off of the toilet, throwing her arms around my neck. I sat frozen, my whole body growing stiff.

Every part of me that had tried to stay strong for her, for my fiancee, fell apart in that second.

I couldn't be a father, she's right, we aren't ready. But. . . but if she was pregnant, then we would have to become ready. We would have to put all of our petty issues behind us and figure this whole thing out.

When she finally lifted her head and met my eyes, I could feel the coldness seep through my veins at the words.

"River, it says I'm pregnant."

Not long, I know. But I hope you guys enjoyed it anyway!

The next few chapters will be a lot longer. I need to know if you guys think I should do it all in River's POV or in Scarlet's after this.

Love you guys!

Let me know what you thought!
