I pulled away once my mind wrapped itself around what was happening.

I shook my head immediately, grabbing my bag from the floor. I was in such a rush to get out of the car I had completely forgotten to take my seat belt off.

"Scarlet, wait." River grabbed my arm, his eyes wide as he stared down at me.

"Let me go." I muttered, trying to squirm out of his grip.

What's wrong with me? Why had I just kissed River? Why had he just kissed me?

"I'm sorry. I'm an idiot, okay? I don't know why I did that." He ran his free hand through his hair, letting out a shaky breath, "How about we just forget it happened?" I nodded, shutting my eyes.

I had just kissed River freaking Moore. And the worst part about it was that I didn't regret it.

"I'm here!" Daisy yelled, throwing my door open and rushing in. She looked horrible. Her usually straightened black hair was thrown in a messy bun, her cheeks were smeared with black tears. Even her lipstick looked as if she had tried to wipe it off but had decided against it halfway.

"What's the emergency?" She asked, shutting my door loudly behind her. I hugged my pillow tighter against my chest, shaking my head.

"You stood me up." I said, even though that wasn't what I had called her here for. Right now, I didn't feel one ounce of anger toward her, not when she looked this bad.

"Greg broke up with me." She fell on to the bed beside me, laying her head on my arm, "He said I wasn't good enough for him. That I was just a toy he had gotten tired of." I could hear her voice crack before I felt a warm tear fall on my hand.

"Hey, he's an idiot for thinking that. You deserve better then him anyway, Daze. You're beautiful, smart, and you've got a great personality." She smiled at me through her tears.

"Thanks, babe." She whispered, "I'm sorry I stood you up. Parker never called anyway, if that makes things any better." I shrugged, ruffling her hair once she had pulled it out of it's bun.

"I kissed River." I blurted, throwing my hand over my mouth a second later. She dropped her purse, letting everything spill out of it on my carpet.

"You did what?" She gaped at me, her eyes growing wider then they already had been.

"I kissed River." I repeated, "Well, he kissed me, but I kissed him back." She shook her head, ripping the pillow from my grip and staring directly into my eyes.

"Did you like it?" She asked. I could feel warmth spread through me at the question. She gasped, slapping my arm.

"Oh my god, you did! Spill, chica. I want to hear all the details." I could feel my cheeks growing even warmer as I sat back and started to tell her everything that happened. From the fighting about Damon and Caleb to his brilliant idea of us pretending to be a couple.

"Shit, Scarlet." Daisy said once I was finished, "You're getting yourself in deeper then you should." I nodded in agreement, burying my face against my teddy bear.

"I don't like him, Daisy. I liked the kiss." I confessed, staring up at the ceiling.

"What do you mean?" She replied, throwing herself on her back beside me. I sighed, rubbing my temples.

"He's a great kisser. He was like. . .my god, Daisy, I've never been kissed like that." She started giggling, shaking her head.

"He likes you, chica." Daisy poked my stomach, "River Moore likes my best friend. See, I told you the right guy would see how amazing you are." She was grinning, but I never got a chance to thank her. Caleb appeared in the room, wearing nothing but a towel around his waist.
