                                      ~*~*~*~

I woke up from a nightmare the same nightmare as always but this time I had a heart in my hand, a human heart. The thought of having a heart in my hand sent shivers down my spine. The memories of the weekends dramatic results bubbled back into my mind.

I had not gone out because I just kept seeing the lifeless eyes of Jason and felt the blood, his blood. How could someone take his heart out like it wasn’t anything.

I shivered in disgust, but it was quite nasty.

“Catalina get up and ready for school!”

I took a deep breath, I knew better than not listen to mom. I threw the covers off me and proceeded to get ready. I wasn’t feeling in the mood to go to school, but I knew I had to.

I took a quick shower and let my hair curl. My hair was strange that way, if I let it air dry, it would curl as if I had done it professionally. Sometimes, it came in handy. I placed some lip gloss, mascara and eyeliner. I wasn’t big on makeup, but once in awhile I did put some on.

Finally done, I ran down stairs and out the door, “Dad hurry!” I screamed running towards the car.

“Someone’s in a hurry.” Grumbled dad as he walked over towards the car, I smiled, “Of course I can’t wait to go to school.” I said in a sarcastic voice.

We drove in silence until we reached the school. I felt as dad turned to me, “Baby girl, are you going to be up for going to school? you know you can just not go until tomorrow…”

I shook my head no. it was just as bad at home. They were always walking around me like eggshells, as if I was the one that had been hurt and not the one that had seeing the dead person. So I much rather go to school, where half of the people had seen the incident.

“No it’s okay. I need to go to school, bye daddy see you after school.” I quickly got off the car before he thought about convincing me.

As soon as you walked into the school, you felt everyone’s sadness. It was hard to be around, I mean you couldn’t help but just feel sad all over again. I got some stares and people would whisper and look my way. I knew what they were talking about. Sure they were saying, ‘There goes the girl who found him.’

It was not something that you wanted to be seen as. Slowly, I made my way to my locker. Leaning on it was Chad, he smiled sadly at me.

“Hey,” I said walking over to him.

“Hi,” he replied not looking alright.

Jason had been one of his close friends. He was his partner in crime on the field. He had declined being the next team captain, he didn’t think it was right taking over his place.

I never talked to Jason because I never saw the chance to, but he did look like a genuine nice guy, one that didn’t deserve such a death.

“Are you okay?” I asked Chad.

He shook his head. I felt my heart break as I saw him so sad. Chad was not like this, he was normally cheery and happy going but right at the moment he looked so miserable. Quickly, I hugged him. I felt his arm encircled around me tightly.

“It’s okay Chad. It’s okay,” I sooth his back.

“He was so young Catalina, so young.”

We stood like that for a couple minutes before pulling apart, “Come on we should get to class, see you in lunch.”

Chad nodded his head as we parted our ways. I hated seeing him like this, but I didn’t know what to do.
