Lucas' POV
I groaned and rolled over when the high pitched familiar iPhone alarm tone rang next to my ear. I did not miss that at all. To be frank, I hadn't enjoyed being suspended as much as I would've thought, at first I did, but after being fired and running out of things to do, I got pretty fucking sick of it, but not having to listen to the irritating sound of my alarm was something I'd never miss.

"Turn that off!" Mom yelled from downstairs. The fact that she could hear it reestablished the conclusion I'd come to that it was unnaturally loud.

I rolled slowly out of bed then aggressively turned my alarm off. Not sure how one does that, but I managed to.

I dragged my feet to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. I looked up at my reflection and frowned a little. I wasn't usually the type of person to check myself out or whatever, I mean I knew I was good looking, but I didn't feel the need to check if it was still there everyday so I hadn't noticed how different I looked until then.

My normally red bloodshot eyes from smoking weed were now completely clear. I realized I hadn't been to a party in over a month and I didn't miss it either. My skin was somehow brighter and I didn't have bags under my eyes.

I wasn't partying as much as I used to, but that wasn't by choice. I wasn't at school and therefore I didn't hear about parties. Plus I'd been so infatuated with Blakely recently. A conversation with her was more stimulating than a beer, I often found myself replaying that we'd talked about in my head, every second of it.

I know I sounded whipped but it wasn't like that. I could never like anyone, let alone Blakely Wood like that, the idea was laughable.

After brushing my teeth and washing my face I threw on a pair of black jeans with rips at the knees and a white adidas hoodie. Wearing it reminded me that Blakely still had my hoodie, two of my hoodies actually.

"Hurry up if you want me to drive you Lukey!" Mom yelled up the stairs. "I think I'll take my skateboard thanks" I yelled back.
"No ones going to judge you, your friends love me!" "Please don't remind me" I groaned jogging downstairs.

Alex had referred to my mom as a MILF for about 2 years before I threatened to beat him up and meant it. Nathen went as far as hitting on my mom once, I nipped that in the bud as soon as fucking possible. Chris was a lot more chill but he did agree whenever someone said that my mom was very attractive, of course that's not how they worded it, but I couldn't bring myself to put my mom and the word they'd actually used together.

"You sure you don't want a ride?" She asked with a smile. She was all dressed up and I didn't even need to ask to know that she had yet another interview, over the past week she'd been to about 4 for completely different jobs that she had zero formal qualification for.

"I'm sure. Good luck though" I said shaking my head. "Don't need it, I got this one in the bag" she tossed her apple core into the bin from a far to prove her point, "I'm a pro" she smiled before walking out of the house.
"Bye mom!" I sighed.
"Bye baby!" She called back.

She was trying so hard. A lot of people, like our relatives on my dad's side thought my mom was lazy and didn't try which was why I had to work, but it wasn't like that. She hadn't stopped trying at any point. When an employer saw all the articles and everything that happened with my dad they were instantly turned off.

My mom hadn't done anything wrong except maybe marry a psychopath. Even in prison my dad was still ruining both of our lives. If you searched my moms name in google, there would be countless amounts of conspiracies and inaccurate articles about her and my dad, luckily for me, I wasn't in any one of them, or at least my name wasn't, when everything went down I was only 4 and it was illegal to use my actual name, that was when all the articles were written, people still wrote about it today, they just didn't know my name and no one cared to find out.
