That day went surprisingly well, except for the fact that Emma wasn't at school.

I tried to call her but it went straight to voice mail, she texted me during third period to let me know she was with her grandad in hospital. I made a mental note to go see her when school was over.

I was in the restroom washing my hands, when Adren and Melissa walked in with their arms folded. I could tell by their posture and expressions that they weren't here to use the bathroom facilities.

They both stood by the door and stared at me, it got to the point where I had to ask what they wanted. "Can I help you?"
"No, but we can help you" Adren said.

Here we go.

"How so?" I asked wiping my hands with paper towel. "I have some very good advice for you shrimp, so listen closely" Adren said walking towards me slowly.

I tried to stand my ground, but when she was less than an inch away from me I had to put some distance between us.

"Stay away from Chris, Blakely" she used my name slowly and laced it with venom.
"I've already told you, Adren, Chris and I-"
"Well I didn't believe you! Apparently you two were seen messing around in the parking lot yesterday. I don't know what you're playing at, but it has to stop, if I see you anywhere near Chris or hear that you were near him again, I will stop at nothing until your pathetic little life is ruined. And that's not a threat, it's a promise. Mark my words, shrimp".

I folded my arms and bit my lip, there was no point trying to explain to her that I just wasn't into Chris like that. I liked having him around as a friend and frankly, I didn't want to stop talking to him, but Adren threats were starting to feel more and more real. I could play tough girl who stands up for herself as much as I wanted, but I would never be able to hide the fact that Adren scared me, and between her and me, she would always be better at being mean.

"It's not like I go hunting for him Adren, he comes up to me. They all do, I'm not the one that started this" I sighed shifting uncomfortably at her deathly glare.
"Who do you think you are?" She scoffed, "they come up to me! Gosh how conceited could you be? None of us like you, ok? You're a loser, you've really got no redeeming qualities! I have no clue how you got captain, or why anyone but your lesbian friend is remotely interested in you, but until balance is restored to nature and you're back to being the irrelevant shrimp, who's name no one knows, I'm going to need you to stay the hell away from me and all my friends yourself, understood?"

"So I have to avoid you?" I raised an eyebrow. Adren shrugged with her arms folded, "if that's what it takes. I don't want you near any of us".

"This is ridiculous" I laughed rolling my eyes.
"Is it?" She asked staring at me with an eyebrow raised, "because I could have easily lead with my back up plan. I'm usually somewhat above this sort of thing, but Blakely, if you don't stay the hell away from us, I'll have no choice but to convince my dad to cut all funds for Emma's grandad. Now you would want to be the cause of that, would you?"

I stared at her in disbelief. How could one human be so utterly cruel. "You wouldn't" I said shaking my head slowly.
"Oh I would, believe me" she smiled.
"You know what, Adren? You are so wrong, you're not even remotely above this. You're one of the cruelest people I've ever met in my entire life! I'm really starting to feel sorry for you! Who hurt you Adren?"

"Watch it" she snapped.
"No!" I yelled back stepping closer to her, "I'm so sick and tired of your stupid empty ultimatums! And you!" I looked at Melissa who was filming the whole thing, "you just follow her around like a lost puppy, who can't think for herself! You see her being so mean to people and you just stand there, like a fire hydrant!" I looked back at Adren and stared her right in the eyes, "there's a reason Chris isn't spending that much time with you anymore, and it isn't me! It's you Adren! You're the one doing this! I mean, look at you, standing here threatening my best friends grandads life, because your so insecure about your relationship with a guy who has told you time and time again he is no longer interested!"
