Chapter 5: The party

Y/n POV

I and Jeff start to walk to the party with his parents. His parents ask a bunch of questions I answered most of them truthfully

"so when did you guys start dating?"
His mom asked me.

My eyes widened and a light shade of pink flushed my cheeks, Jeff had his headphones on so he didn't react.

I started to stutter at a loss for words.

"WERE UH- WE- WERE NOT- I-"

Jeff heard me and took off his headphones. I wanted to see how he would react, so I asked his mom "could you repeat your question?" Jeff turned to his mom "how long have you guys been dating." His mom repeated. His eyes grew wide "a week." He said my eyes grew wide and my pink cheeks were now red. His mom and dad started talking and I lean over "what the fuck?" I whispered Jeff whispered back "I lied and told my mom that you were my girlfriend to get her to stop asking why I stayed at a girl's house." Jeff said. "Ohh okay... WAIT no! Not okay!" I said, "how long are we gonna have to keep this up?!" I said starting to raise my voice but still whispering. Jeff shrugged. I looked at him almost offended, but I guess I would have done the same thing so I didn't say anything else. We arrived at the party 3 minutes later. It was childish. Of course. Cowboy-themed, not as formal as I thought, that's a relief. Jeff and I stood awkwardly as the adults talked about adult stuff that I don't care about. Then one of the kids came up with a cowboy hat on and asked me and Jeff to play cowboy with them, Jeff of course hesitated but I said "their kids go play with them right now." I said trying to sound serious. "Only if you go too!" Jeff said grabbing my wrist and dragging me to the backyard.

I was playing the kidnapped girl, while the boys fought with fake pistols. I was 'tied up so all I did was just sit there and say "help" from time to time. Everything was going well until  3 boys hopped over the fence "their trouble. Y/n. Stay away from them." I heard Nolan say. I just nodded they were walking towards Jeff, not noticing me. All the kids went inside for cake, and then they pushed Jeff, me being very overprotective, I speed walked up and push the kid down with all my might, and stand in front of Jeff who quickly stand up. "Leave us alone troy," Jeff says. But that only fuels troys fire. I didn't know Jeff was getting bullied why didn't he tell me... Troy pushes me down by pushing on my chest, I stumble but don't fall. I push him back. him not throwing punches I think 'Glad he thinks he can't hit me, but equal rights equal fights'. I punch Troy in the nose, making him fall back. His nose starts bleeding. I get held back by troys other friend. Jeff and Troy start beating each other up. Jeff is losing. I'm flailing my arms trying to get him to let go. But it's like this guy doesn't feel pain. Jeff runs into the house and as the guy holding me watches them I get out of his grip and chase after them. They went upstairs. I'm getting chased up the stairs. I hear Jeff say "w-what are you going to do?!" I stop and see that Jeff is soaked in something that smells like alcohol and bleach. I see Troy standing there with a match. The guy runs up the stairs and grabs me. I start fighting again, and I hear Troy say "go to sleep." As he throws the burning match, Jeff lights up in flames. I scream and start crying thinking of how I'm going to lose my only friend, my vision starts fading, and I know Nolan is taking over. When I wake up Jeff is laying there and the kids are gone. I see Jeff all burnt up, still in a big fire. I scream and run downstairs " JEFF! HE... HE'S ON FIRE! HE GOT SET ON FIRE!" The adults run up the stairs, EMT's are called, everything is blurry...
