It's been four years since Dapphion lost its queen, the memory of when their King came in with the lifeless body of their queen is stuck in their heads especially to those who knew her dearly, the first two years were worst for witches and mages.

Lord Asmodeus would call each one of them to find a solution for his mate and when they don't he orders them to be killed, witches did practice magic because they were aware he had gone mad. Later Asmodeus was advised to speak to her dead form every day to make him feel somewhat closer to her and he does that every day.

Despite the sadness in Dapphion they still managed to have smiles on their faces whenever the young prince walks by, he makes the market men laugh even if his jokes aren't funny for but sometimes they feel sad when they look at him he has a close resemblance to his mother.

And Asmodeus only stopped killing witches for the sake of his son whom he would do anything for. Logan had finally let his family know he is alive when he heard Aurora was dead.

Aurora's body was never buried instead it stayed fresh in a glass coffin,  and the only one allowed to visit her is Xanthus, the gates to the castle had been shut closed, Xanthus never left the castle the day he returned with his dead mate, instead he stayed in and gave orders to everyone.

The only time Xanthus only opens the gate is during the mate dance, he had been tempted to ban the idea of mates in Dapphion so they could feel his pain. He still remembers how her lifeless eyes stared at him after the birth of their son.

He only blames himself for her death, he knows if he had told her about the curse earlier she wouldn't have gotten pregnant and died but instead he kept that secret thinking he would not let her be pregnant.

He sits in the room where she lays in her coffin, telling her about his day. "I haven't left the castle in four years and some even believe I'm dead--" he chuckles, "I might as well be," he stays quiet hoping she would give a reaction to his words but nothing happens.

"I remember the day Damien called me dad--" he smiles at the memory, "If you were here I know you'd be mad that he called me dad-- before he called you mom--" he says playfully, hoping she would at least crack a little smile but nothing happens.

"Dorin gives my order out to others, and today Damien broke a vase and tried to hide it from me but I pretended to not see it so he would tell me the truth and he did" he relaxes on the soft sofa in the room.

The room has only one window that enables a little bit of sun into the room, everything else is spotless white with a ceiling fan and a white sofa. She wears a white dress in her coffin with her brown hair that was styled straight, her eyes were closed.

"Korina visited again and I think something is going on between her and Rekal I know if you were here you would have told me to stay out of their business but I won't!" He half-yells.

"It hurts to stare at Damien sometimes. He looks exactly like you, he has your soft brown hair but he has my eyes, a cute nose just like yours" he places his hands on his knees. "Lillith died, well she killed herself and Korina set her on fire she looked satisfied after doing that, at least I thought she did until I passed her room and heard her cry, I let her have her space like you told me to"

"Damien's birthday was always on Earth but this year is going to be in Dapphion. You know demon kids grow faster than normal kids," he faces the ceiling his eyes move with the fan.

"I miss you and I blame myself for what happened" again he waits for a response but he doesn't get any, he stands up and leaves with a sigh after wiping his tears.

Josien sees her brother leaves the room and she stares at him in sadness, she too also misses her best friend who did stupid things sometimes and who babysat her kids when she and her mate were going out on a date.

Xanthus sits in his room with a cup of bourbon in his left hands, he swirls the alcohol in the cup without having intentions of drinking it. He wonders why humans take such awful drink when they are sad, it's obvious the drink doesn't reduce pain neither does it bring relief to them.

He stares blanking at the portrait of his mate, still swirling the cup. The door opens and Xanthus doesn't move a muscle he's going to ignore the person like everyone else.

"Come on, you can't just sit here and do nothing" Dorin sighs, Xanthus doesn't stop his movement. "You can't stay in here forever we all miss her too" Xanthus tightens his grip on the glass cup, "You don't even play with your son every day it's almost like he doesn't have a father" Xanthus throws the cup and the glass shatters on the spotless floor.

"I can't bear to look at him! Each time I'm staring at him it's like looking at a mini Aurora. You know I held her in my arms when she was a baby, now she's gone, and you know whose fault it is? Mine! It's all my fault!" He runs his hands through his hair in frustration.

"You say Damien doesn't have a father? Well, he doesn't have a mother either and it's all my fault! If I had told her about the curse she wouldn't have gotten pregnant!" He throws a chair on the wall, "She would have wanted a child anyway" Dorin tries to calm his friend.

"I wouldn't have let her! I don't care if Damien has to live the rest of his life without parents" the words hurt him to say out loud because even if he doesn't show it, he loves his son he would move the world for his son to find his favorite toy.

"No, Xanthus you don't mean that" Dorin moves closer to him. "Don't touch me! Yes I mean that"

"Aurora wouldn't like tha--"

"Aurora isn't here and you know whose fault it is? Mine" he yells that.

"Xanthus--"

"Get out Dorin" Dorin closes the door behind him and Xanthus breaks down.

He walks to her room again, this is the second time this week he's going into her room.

"Hello" he sits on the familiar white sofa, he talks about his day with her. "You know tomorrow is Damien's fourth birthday" Xanthus sighs.

"It's been four years since I last touched you, it's been four years since I last heard your laugh, it's been four years since I last saw your smile" he chuckles humorlessly.

"You know what Damien wished for on his third birthday?" Of course, he doesn't get a response back, but he continues anyway "He wished for his mother to come on his Fourth birthday no one had the heart to tell him you're gone" he couldn't speak to her anymore so he leaves the room and goes to sleep.

And her eyes snap open.

The End.
