Christmas Special: The Case of the Missing Gifts and Kids Part VI

Avie's Pov

*BOOM*

It came from outside the orphanage.

I gritted my teeth and clenched my fists very hard. "What the hell?!" I said. Who would do such a thing? So the letter means that at 5:30 in the afternoon, a bomb will explode. "Let's check it out!"

"Wait!" "Let Akhaya and Eudayme check it.

"But----"

"How about go inside the orphanage and continue investigating. I'll go---"

"Right!" he shouted. Napatakbo na rin ako kasabay niya. I have no other choice, do I?

"I never knew that running was that fun!" Cali said, he was smiling, a genuine one. "I never ran this fast. You see, when a criminal is running, I let the police or my companions chase it. I won't waste my energy for that."

"No, no. I'm not lazy, Aviela. I'm not the only one who's present when there's a case to solve. I already did my part, which is identifying the culprit. There are other people present, better let them do the running task, which is their part." He explained. Is he a mind reader? Oh well, never mind.

"So, why did you drag me here?" I asked him.

"Because you too also know who the culprit is." He said, smirking.

I have someone in mind. How? Remember when I was on the second floor? I got into a messy room where a cutter was present and there's a blood stain.

I already knew who it belonged to when we visited the kitchen.

"Aviela, that person is missing." Cali said.

That makes my idea that he is the culprit stronger.

"Let's check around." I suggested and started to leave the kitchen. "Panigurado akong hindi pa siya nakakalabas dito."

"I assume that the bomb earlier was a timer bomb." Cali said, catching up to my pace. "Since there was a letter involved with the time of the explosion, that concludes it."

I nodded. Cali is a sharp one. He can tell many different facts by just looking into details.

"Bukas yung pinto oh." I said, pointing ahead. "Wala namang bukas na pinto kanina ah. Guess the culprit is on the move."

Dumiretso kami sa kwarto na iyon. Cali was cautious, he checked first if the coast is clear before letting me enter.

We entered a spacious living room with a blue carpet laid on the floor.

"Aviela, look, a basement. Should we go down?"
