Why do I run forward
without looking back
to where I've been
or to where I am?
Why do I dream higher
without fulfilling
the ones I left behind
out in the open?
In the silence of night
under the scalding presence
of my burdensome worries
over the crests of my pain
Why do I open my mouth
to taste tomorrow
with my sanity intact
and my voice full
Why do I exist freely
to enjoy the things I do
when all this time
I am nothing
but a fool
