I died the first few times
someone said goodbye
—like hearts breaking
to bleed shards
scraping your skin
I died—
I'm sure I didIt must have been easy
since I lived—
escaped, survived—
without a scratch on meAs years went—
flaws surface
—years of neglected hurt
creeps like a shadow
devouring hope as lightAs years pass—
and continues so
—my corpse sang through
the broken dawns of death
to make me see that
I didn't resurrect from dying
a thousand times before
—I just carried on traveling
while staying dead
until I wasn't alive
anymore
