Of all the bittersweet
farewells I've lived through
why was ours the one
that hurt the most?
—it was without anger
and without closure too—
It was nothing but silence
on the other end of the blueOf all the bittersweet
ties I've ever managed to build
why was ours the loudest
when it snapped under pressure?
—it was without daggers
or blades poised to cut—
It was nothing but the void
screaming to reap its lotOf all the bittersweet
words I've ever said
why were the ones to you
the most that stung?
—it was without conviction
and full of regret—
It was nothing but memories
of the things I won't forgetOf all the bittersweet
lives I've ever touched
why was mine the one
that never reached the sky
—it was brief, without respite
was the heartbreak—
It was nothing but giving
and letting go
but I often wonder—
was it for whose sake?
