"What's going on mom.. please I'm getting worried?"

"Sit down Meeza, let's have a word"

She sat down next to her mother unaware of what was in store for her. What she didn't know was how it would be a grave turning point in her life.
Shakila felt she was being cruel to her daughter for putting her through this so soon. But it was best for her. She held her daughters hand softly caressing it.

"Mom can you tell me? You're all freaking me out"

Shakila explained to her daughter in a very calm voice. She didn't know how her daughter was going to react.

"This morning, your dad's friend from the U.S called"

"Uncle Asfar?"

"Jee Uncle Asfar, he.. he"

"He what maa?"

Aunty Shakila was finding it difficult to form words. She inhaled a deep breath and finally removed it off her chest.

"He asked your father for your hand in marriage for his son" Then exhaled.

Meeza's eyes opened wide in confusion.

"Okay and?"

"And your father said he'll give it a thought"

"Wait, you mean the guy with the stinking attitude? What was his name again...

Saahir?"

"Yes Meeza, Saahir"

"You can't be serious"

"Oh I'm pretty sure I'm serious, infact your father has invited them over right now they should be here any minute"

"What!" Meeza jumped upright and shouted in anger, "It simply cannot! He's filthy rich! he's a bloody billionaire mum why would he?"

"And you didn't think it was important enough to tell me any of this?" Meeza continued scolding her mother.

"Meeza please try and understand the situation"

"I mean.. the whole day has gone by you didn't find it important to tell me and now is the time?

"I'm sorry Meeza I didn't know how to tell you about it.. you were tensed about your uni and Rukhsana's nikkah"

"But how mum? I'm not ready to get married this soon! I still have to study! It's insane mum I need to go to uni" a tear formed its way on her cheek and she flicked it away angrily.

"Come here Meeza" she refused to look her mother in her eye and stared at the ceiling forcing the tears in, afraid she'll end up crying infront of her.

Aunty Shakila pulled her arm and cupped both her hands on Meeza's face.

"I'll only wish what's best for you Meeza"
